Got a Model A Starter that is somebody’s rebuild that won’t throw the drive out?? Don’t know what they did need some help Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
When you say the drive is not working, is the starter on the bench, or still bolted in? If it is still bolted in, and the motor spins but won't engage, it could be a broken Bendix spring on the drive. They can break if used with 12 volts, because the starter is much faster on 12v and that slams the spring too fast, meaning too violently.
Starter is out and on the bench...it appears to be turning CW looking at the drive end of the starter...I think I should be a CCW starter if somebody can confirm that...the person that rebuilt the starter could have put the wrong armature in this starter?? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
If no one here can help go over to the Ford Barn Model A forum. Those guys live and breath Model A Fords.
