Technical Model A Starter

    Got a Model A Starter that is somebody’s rebuild that won’t throw the drive out?? Don’t know what they did need some help

    When you say the drive is not working, is the starter on the bench, or still bolted in?

    If it is still bolted in, and the motor spins but won't engage, it could be a broken Bendix spring on the drive. They can break if used with 12 volts, because the starter is much faster on 12v and that slams the spring too fast, meaning too violently.

    Starter is out and on the bench...it appears to be turning CW looking at the drive end of the starter...I think I should be a CCW starter if somebody can confirm that...the person that rebuilt the starter could have put the wrong armature in this starter??

    6 Volt positive ground if stock.

    That's correct. (The engine crankshaft turns clockwise when viewed from the front)
