Not an injector scoop, however it's purportedly an original H&M from a 427FE

    1960 A 61 year tradition

    Hello,

My brother and I had been following those experienced racers that ran in the Gas Coupe and Sedan Classes, as well as the Altered Classes back in 1959 and 1960. When the Hilborn Two Port Fuel Injector units started showing up, a new air scoop was also advertised as the latest from the Hilborn Injection Company. AKA… Fuel Injection Engineering Co.

At the time, they were located in Santa Monica and within several years, moved to an ocean view brick building in the open space area of So Cal, namely Laguna Niguel, an unincorporated low tax base location. From their, high on a cliff location, there were glimpses of the ocean down the freeway valley in the Dana Point area.

From this location, they ended up in Aliso Viejo in the 2000s and finally went East.

But, the introduction to all racers of the custom injector scoop started it all and became a standard all over the drag racing/hot rod world.

We had a set of the Two Port Hilborn Injectors and Scoop sitting in a garage in Los Angeles, during our last month of drag racing. It was the last part of the puzzle, along with larger M&H slicks. They were to finish the power section of our 1940 Willys Coupe with a 671 supercharger, prior to going to the U.S. Nationals in Detroit during September 1960.

The 6 Strombergs did their job and we had a powerful motor, now the next step for “More Power,” was the Two Port Hilborn Injection System.
