I reckon that second pic with the guy with no shirt was taken by me in the pits at Indy in 1966. My son posted it on the HAMB years ago with a story about our trip from Australia to the US to do a 6 month hot rod tour.

The whole story is just amazing. I guess the stars do align once in a while. I do hope the owner keeps us up to date on the progress.

^^ These late nights down here are wearing me down, either that or I need new glasses. It was on the interweb so it must be true then? ;)

It is a totally cool story all around...A time capsule found, and two coincidental connections and a really cool Hamber.

3249C800-5C81-4AA9-B5AD-F9A1E86C9BBF.jpeg Ok, here’s the real update. The car is now back in KY with its new owner Phillip Yeiser. Here is a picture with Phillip sitting in the car and Dave Forry and my my ugly mug. That article says that the motor was bought is not accurate. I’m still trying to get it. More updates to come

Tell Phillip if he wants a copy of that pic from the pits at Indy in 66 to let me know and I'll get one taken off the slide and send it to him.

That is quite the wacky steering set up...is that angled stuff typical of this vintage of racer?...I suppose it had something to do with the monster in the engine bay no doubt...

I can’t get enough of this. I applaud you of your catch and release ability. Hopefully you get first right of refusal if Phillip ever decides to sell.
