there should be a number sequence stamped on the top of the block, in front of the right side head.. like M0413TJ or similar.

there might also be the phrase "HECHO EN MEXICO" on the back of the block, sort of in the area you found the casting number, maybe on the other side, or something.

Hecho en Mexico, Targetmaster (that's actually cast where the trans/bell-housing mounts), 350; dished cast pistons, cast crank, large chamber heads, and just a boring camshaft. Complete long block with the timing cover and oil pan; need an intake and exhaust manifolds, distributor and carburetor. They tended to be cast with fairly porus and soft cast iron, meaning they wore the cylinders fairly quickly; mine had a huge ridge when I tore it down.. They had a 1 year or 12 month warranty; mine dropped an exhaust valve right after warranty, put a hole in #8 piston, pushed the valve stem through the head, and imbedded the valve head in the chamber. I still have the block, they were 4 bolt main. Still available, but they call them by a different name now, and for the life of me, I can't recall it at the moment. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

200 seems a little hotter than I feel comfortable with. By no means catastrophic but, I’m sure with some cooling system maintenance & or upgrades you can keep it running cooler than that.

  20. a fan shroud and/or smaller water pump pulley may solve that problem.

It could also be related to your hesitation. Carb issues tend to be timing issues sometimes. And that can put heat into it real fast.

That being said if it doesn’t puke I wouldn’t worry to much about it. Drive it a bunch and it’ll either get better or you’ll have more to go on. Car looks great!

Where are you located city wise? There’s tons of us around, I always call a hamb buddy to come lean on the fender and give some advice when I’m sorting something out

220 won't hurt it. 240 is when problems start. 190-200 is just fine.

  25. Give it a good tune first, overheating problems usually disappear when that engine is running pretty.
Nice ride you got there! Fix it and drive the wheels off it!!

My SBC runs 210, going down the highway or stopped in traffic. 200 should be fine.

I tried everything on my 47 Plymouth when I bought it , it had a 350 combo also but the only thing that fixed it was a fan shroud

  30. I have my old fresh air/recirculation damper all cleaned up and new rubber gasket and heater box and fan if you want to get some fresh air to the passenger.
