Technical Road trip tool box

Now that the last of the snow flakes have fallen for the most of us it's time to hit the road, I was loading up the sedan this afternoon and remembered to my old ammo tool box with a variety of tools, electrical wire, terminals, tape, patch kit and a small jack.

What do you carry hoping you don't have to use them? HRP

 

AAA card.

 

Everything lol. If I am taking a long trip it is far enough that the quote " there's no place like home, there's no place like home" is going to cut it. Don't your mechanics wire. I take wrenches /sockets/ channel locks ,big hammer, adjustables , vise grips ,fuses etc. A aluminum bat as well. You never know when a pick up game of baseball is around the corner

Carried a shaving bag with basic tools for years till it wore out transferring to other cars.
Then once in a while we didn't have 'The Tool Kit'...I decided to buy a half dozen cheesy Harbor Freight tool sets on sale and put one in each vehicle we have plus the travel trailer...

But I have been told more than once I need reminding.

 

Glad you brought that up, heading out of town with a load to a swap meet.

 

Depends on the car, and the trip...

 

A small set of wrenches, plus a Crescent wrench; some Channel Locks, some side cutters, a couple of screw drivers, some bailing wire, some zip ties, a cheap volt/ohm meter, maybe some RTV, and a couple of rags.

 

And some duct tape if there's room.

A separate box for supplies, not tools, is a good idea.

 

I took two cross-country, two-lane blacktop road trips with my stock '55 Chevy pickup in 2007 and 2008. I carried everything but the kitchen sink to ward off Murphy and it worked. Here is the inventory list.

Wow! You could pull over in a parking lot and rebuild the whole dang truck. Me, I travel on a wing and a prayer. No spare tire, so I do carry a can of fix-a-flat and a 12 v compressor from HF. Never been stranded.

Basic hand tools, some wire, connectors, EZ-plug frost plug replacements, folding allen wrench sets. Disposable coveralls, and a flashlight.

 

I reasoned if I had it with me, I wasn't gonna need it. This was taken at the 2007 truck show in McCungie, PA

I’m usually always in civilization so I don’t carry lots.

But an adjustable wrench, slip joint pliers , side cutters and a socket set
Jumper cables
Wire , tape , points kit and my trusty CAA CARD ( AAA for you Yankees !)
Never been stuck yet

 

If my wife's driving I find valium is good to throw in the tool box... and a flask

 

Tools,vicegrips,hammer,adjustible,Xjack,can of nuts n bolts,tieraps,tape,wire,test light,towrope,jumpers an fix-a-flat ,along with a lot of other stuff behind my seat back. Most looking at my bobtailed 28A,think there is no trunk for anything,but my hide-a-ways fools them.

 

I usually take my brother. He's a tool...

 

Laroke Looks like you're ready for anything .Looks like you're lean and mean. You could probably slide under that truck slide out the other side without even using the jack. Get yourself a AAA card takes a lot of worry out

 

I made up a ditty bag of tools for when I took my boat out. Now that I don't have a boat, I use the tools for trips. Socket set, SAE wrenches, adjusting wrench, etc.
