Features Modifieds only!!

By those criteria, every car on the HAMB would be a modified. Modifieds are/were a class of race cars in many forms of racing, lakes, circle, probably even early drags, but all were race cars and heavily modified for speed. Even though NASCAR now has a series for pickups, I personally don't consider them race cars. Just an opinion, but for me having a pick up bed removes the racing appearance and although pretty cool hot rods, they are not modifieds in my eyes..

 

I like "a boners' " statement. I am currently assembling a modified '26 T roadster. Perhaps the answer to what it is ,is how you use it.....Want to race?..... Run what you brung!

Nor do the "Modifieds" you listed in your other post. The intent of this thread is clear by the photos of lakes modifieds that have been posted. Tidbit lakes modifieds have been around since the 30s, they are the original modifieds, btw most were built from tourings or roadsters, few were built from RPUs.

 

Wonderful cars no matter where they were built to race.

 

In the last photo, it looks like it has rear steer, with the drag link connected to the rear axle. Love the tails on the frame.

 

Possibly disconnected for flat tow? I have seen another example but can't remember where?

 

That makes sense.

I scanned these out of my copy of "Nostalgia Street Rods" by Larry O'Toole. This book came out in 1998 and was published by Graffiti publications in Australia. I highly recommend this book. Gas tank in stock location over feet/lap or under his butt. Either way do not like. But love the modified

Here's one I a building.
Model A frame shortened and narrowed at the front. '35 front suspension, '42 rear axle and '40 bones. Model A rear spring. 235/261 straight 6. T5. '26 body. '32? chevy gas tank. 18' rear and 17' front wires. I have a build thread on it.

One of my favorites, now there's a dedicated modified guy.

 

This site is the "bee's knees". I live for modifieds. They're the most basic of the basic, straight forward, to the point, no nonsense. Keep the photos coming.

 

Saw this one on S.F. cl. about a month ago, it's got a box on it but I could fix that.

 

Is he 7’ tall. I sit deep in my 27 Modified and there’s plenty of leg room.

I probably posted this before but to keep the thread going this is one I built and as usual kicking my ass for letting it go but I was in a building frenzy and couldn't wait to get to the next one haha.
