Hot Rods What is this thing mounted on the highboy firewall?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by FritzJr, Apr 29, 2019.

  1. Attached is a copy of a photo from the Rocco & Cheaters photo collection. The engine shows to be a 1956 Corvette 265 since it has certain features which were unique to that engine. The engine appears to be in a '32 highboy. The question is: what is that round thing mounted on the passenger side of the firewall?

Looks like a vacuum cylinder like what would be used for a power brake booster.

definitely looks like something that needs to be removed no matter what it does.

Blow-by/oil separator using recycled parts, and it looks to drain back into the oil pan. Wrong WCFB carbs for a dual quad set up; both have chokes and are connected to exhaust manifold heat via a "T". Maybe this engine should be installed in that South American 55/56 Wagon/Delivery? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

That is a hydro vac brake booster from a truck. I don't know what purpose it would serve on that roadster. I would take it off

Squirrel wins the Chicken Dinner again . HyrraVac unit from a larger truck or bus chassis . Only issue here is it looks about as bad as I have even seen and it only works with a single chamber MC .
