Very nice and so glad to hear it all worked out in the long haul. I vote for the bench all the way!

 

Great to see things moving in the right direction. It really to bad you had to redo so much work you already did once, but you will end up with one hell of a nice car in the end. I'm not sure why, but I like the idea of bench in black or the buckets in white. I totally dig your idea of setting up for both, so you can easily change to suit your needs.

Well it’s been a while. Got the car about back together and fired up for the first time yesterday. Herm Petersen came up to the shop to fire it and tuned it. She is a monster. Never was finish tuned before. Now it is. And so nice to see oil pressure. Wow. Hoping to take it to a show this weekend that my car club puts on. The buckets are in the upholstery shop being done and the bench is in the car until I can switch those. It’s going along anyhow.

 

@GTO_MUSCLE_SS the smile on your face speaks volumes...so happy that your turning the page on this...Yeah...that first Hemi-Cruise will be a well deserved therapeutic cleansing of the mind...and your really getting close to that...Hotrod looks awesome....

It's looking great! Maybe you can get some help in posting a short video of that blown hemi running?

I also want to say I am happy for you guy, this has been a really hard pull for you. I think it is all going to be cool though, just wish you didn't have to go thru all of that crap.

 

As in past posts I have wished you well. With all that has been thrown at you over these past accumulative months , I have one thing that sort of throws the car off to me. Looking at the pics it definitely gives off the vintage hot rod vibe but the pics of the gauges , too me just doesn't fit. I understand you need the gauges but vintage or retro gauges would fit the car . Just my opinion . Glad you could see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it wasn't a train.

 

The gauges are tucked underneath the dash so you won’t see them. I didn’t want to trust old gauges with oil pressure on a motor I now have $37k into. And they don’t have old gauges for boost. But here’s a shot of the dash with the gauges that you can see. All original Twin blues

 

Cool! I like it but It made me think (that is dangerous and often expensive) a guy could install his late model gauges and switches on a hinged panel that drops down for action and folds away for show and shine.

Seriously though, that turned out nice and compliments the dash I think. Glad you have your car back! Washington rules! Actually I cant back that up but we do build cool cars.

I understand your rational completely The gauges showing I give you a thumbs up. Dang now I have to admit I would of did the same thing.

 

$37,000 engine all precautions are necessary. I applaud you on your ambition , attitude and car. Everyone of us would take that hot rod and be proud of it.

 

You make a good role model with your persistence and attitude under stress.

 

A little top treatment. Going to plug weld some bolts under where the screws are now and have the metal covered in white vinyl. Unboltable but strong.

Retorqued the heads. And painted the rear panel. The hardest blue I’ve ever tried to match. 1962 dirt cheap special lacquer. Just not easy to match. Oh well it’s blue anyhow

 

Well you have to be happier than the proverbial "pig in sh..". Beautiful hot rod. Here's to many happy go fast miles ahead.

Little welding. Little grinding and a quick paint job gives it the look I wanted to see before putting white on there with vinyl. I dig the white. It’s what it had originally when it was hot rodded. Someone just painted the white patch black

... I see that KQQL Hemi is sporting an old Cal Custom scoop like the one I sold on feebay 10 years ago ! ...

 

I almost bought that scoop. I need a screen for mine damnit.

 

... I made the screen by cutting up an Edelbrock air cleaner into two ovals and putting the filter foam between them ... then tack welded a wire to the back that could be looped around the carb stud to hold it in ...

 

That was damn near exactly what I was planning. Except the metal and foam from one of my velocity stacks. Oh well just ran to the store

 

And that’s a wrap for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow all goes well. Gotta be up in 4 and a half hours for my car clubs show. Cross your fingers for me guys. And thanks 1935streetrod for the ideas. I was a little stumped on what to do today.
