Might want to rephrase that question, so it makes sense?

Anyways, post some pictures, so we can see what's going on. There are a lot of possibilities, and there's no way to tell without seeing it.

    WORDS--------------IS WHAT DID -'WORK'

  5. Unbolt the fender and move it closer to the hood.
Is this a new hood for the car or you are just putting the original parts back together?

The gap at the back edge of the hood will tell you if the hood is on straight. If it's good back there, then you need to slide your fenders sideways to get the proper gap. All this should have been done before any paint work. Might need to slot some mounting holes in the fender mounts, inner panels, hood hinge mounts, etc.

Sorry to hear about the stroke! but it's great that you're still messing with cars

The thing is there might be a gap because one or more parts are bent, or it might be because things are just not adjusted properly.

If you can get pictures, it sure would help...

Alchemy has it right. Hood to cowl gap is the place to start. Not only gap but equal with sides of cowl. To 'move the fenders sideways', look to the core support....should be a bolt in the center under the radiator. That will allow shifting the front of the front end assembly which ever direction needed to allow the hood to close, hopefully with even gaps to the hood. It may happen that one fender lines up and the other doesn't. In that case look to the fender that isn't aligned.

Also, pay attention to the gap between the fenders and doors. If they are uneven top to bottom, then raising or lowering the aforementioned core support with shims can improve the fender/door situation.
Occasionally, somebody will install the fenders and force the fender/door gap into place and tighten the fender bolts to hold in place. If the lower portion of the fender, behind the wheel, is bowed out, that is a sign of that situation.

While you are at it, start by looking at the door gaps along the rocker panel and door latch pillar and upper door frame. If they are all good, great, on to the hood and fender stuff as outlined above. The main point is, a poorly fitted main part (door or hood, for instance) can start a chain reaction of ill fitting panels. It's a process and begins with the most basic parts as described.

Oh, the bumpers may need adjustment too before it's all said and done.
