  1. Picked up a working 1957 Corvette rearend. Complete as shown with a 4:11 posi. Out of a restomod, seller making room and helped me load it. Sometimes it pays to search CL by location. 3 miles from me and 200 bucks.

Installed cab mount in the Unibody today....went pretty well, just have some weld cleanup to do. Then seal it prime and paint. Hope the weld thru primer is worth it because it sure raises hell with the welding process! 20190424_130031.jpg

Killed an eBay ad on some Hella headlights. Turned out they were the old Westinghouse lights in the Hella boxes. Should I risk testing them or shit can them? Bob

  6. Went over the '33 frame to be sure it was ready to blast and powder coat(I'm sure we will find something else that needs to welded to frame once it's coated).
Found some '42-'48 light housing & rings in my parts pile, gathered up some NOS lenses and an old tag light from my kid's stock, and put together the tail panel for my someday project.

  7. Spun a tire, literately spun a tire trying to get out in traffic and then saw a BLUE LIGHT in my rear view mirror, I was chastised by a officer less than half my age and was told I was driving erratic and I stressed I had to hustle to get out in the street with the heavy traffic, me and my '50 got away with a warning, thankfully. You got a blue light special without a trip to K-MART.

Couple of months ago, I was going to work in my o/t Caddy ATS-V. I go in at four in the morning to configure computers before my co-workers show up. All of a sudden, I got headlights tailgating me and I'm a bit nervous about that because the four o'clock bars have just closed. I get to a place where it's clear sailing ahead and I punch it to get some distance between myself and the tailgater. Then the blue lights come on. I get off the road and two county deputy cars show up. The Caddy can hit 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and top speed is 189 so I didn't dispute it when he said he clocked me over seventy (in a 45 mph zone). I told him my concerns about the headlights behind me. As he was checking my license and registration the other officer stood my my door and asked me about guns. I told him I had a sidearm in my pocket. He said just to keep my hands away from it and it wasn't mentioned again. I got a warning. If somebody tailgates me in the dark now, I just live with with it.

Felt well enough today to remove the spindles from the 58 apache axle , one kingpin came out without too much of a fight , the other one required my ball joint tool and a couple of cuss words;) Called Sids and put my name on the axle list, felt good to do something for the first time since Sunday...

installed a 1972 Mustang dual piston brake master cylinder in my 1955 T-Bird. keeping the stock T-Bird drum brakes(11" x 2") , had to drill out the 2 mounting holes to 3/8". and did some more body filler to the fenders.

Spent 4 hrs. In the garage. Pulled Fresh Sbc and T-10 from 56’ Chevy frame to get ready for install in my 57’ Chevy. Working in my tight 2 car garage, skies opened up at 2:00 cut my day short. But I am very pleased with the progress.

Lenox 3” and 2” carbide hole saws. Night and day difference vs. bimetal. If you’re going to do this in stainless, get the carbide saws.

Speed unknown. The lowest my drill press goes is 480 RPM. But the recommended method with these is low speed (the 3” says 160 RPM), and high pressure. I pulled as hard as I could on the press, to the edge of stalling the saw in the cut. That slowed the saw down considerably, and the drive belt was slipping on the pulleys.
