I've run into a guy that has been liquidating a treasure of goodies. He has no idea what anything is from or what it's worth. I'm posting these pictures in the hopes of ID'ing what can be from the pictures. If you see something that interests you personally PM me and I'll try to get it for you. Prices have been really reasonable. If I knew what things were I might be tempted to grab everything from him and sell it off piece by piece. Thanks for all the help. You need to spend some time using google images to figure out what the cars are that they came from We could do it for you, but then you wouldn't learn as much. Mostly 1960s stuff in this collection. I recognize a few, but with the big group phots of stuff stacked up, it's pretty hard for us to sort it out for you. 4 door doors aren't worth a lot, usually...
Like I said, I was pressed for time. I haven't had a chance to get home to really try looking things up. I believe I might know a few things. Like the Cadillac trunk lid and some el Camino doors. Thinking the one trunk lid is off an Edsel. That's as far as I've gotten so far.
That first photo of what looks to be a blue bucket seat I think is a 1962 Falcon Futura. It looks just like the ones I put in my first car waay back when.
I'm really curious about a guy who has all this stuff, but no idea what it is from or what it is worth. Who took it of the cars? Did he just pile stuff up? Appear to be more of a hoard than a collection and will take quite bit to sort out. Hope you're getting a cut for doing all the legwork.
He inherited everything when his uncle died. He's been trying to clear the place up for awhile. Selling what he can to help pay for other expenses. He's growing impatient and wanting to hurry up and get rid of the rest. I'd like to help the guy out but I certainly don't want to haul (and pay) for stuff that nobody will ever buy. I certainly don't want to sit on it for an extended period of time. I'd buy it and send it down the road for a modest profit. I hate seeing stuff get scrapped but I don't need to be THAT guy that has a bunch of stuff that has no idea what it is either. I don't know him personally. Just went out to see what he had. Picked up a few things for myself.
The truth is the market on old cars and parts has turned extremely soft as the generation interested in those vehicles continues to die off. This isn't a money making opportunity, the truth is even if he gave you that stuff you couldn't sell half of it because nobody wants to pay the cost of shipping. My advice is to run like hell and not look back.
I’d have to weigh the price versus the projected income after factoring in the effort to load that stuff, unload it where I had the room to store it and then trying to identify everything. Loading all those doors onto a pickup or trailer? Better eat your Wheaties. Sounds like a lot of work and many of the parts might be there for a long time and some may never sell. Then consider how much is four door stuff, or brands that might not be the most popular. Can you make some money? Maybe, but how long do you want to wait?
Call an auction company and let them deal with it. Get whatever they get and be done. A rear door for a 4 dr Chrysler is worth scrap. And the trunk lid for a 62 Chevy is only worth what some one will pay. 2dr, 4dr lids are different. I gave a bunch of stuff to a HAMB member because I got tired of hauling it around. Pat
You could contact a salvage yard that specializes in antique and obsolete auto parts, like Easy Jack's in Kansas, I think. They might be interested in coming to load up a semi truck of assorted doors, trunk lids, etc if they could get a good deal.
Best thing to do is haul it to the scrap man. you get cash and its all done just like that. There aint a ready market for that kind of stuff. Ive hoarded similar for decades and only a small % can be sold. It takes a certain breed of person to be a advocate of this sort of junk. and you aint one.
There appears to be 3 fenders there from a '66 to '67 LeMans or GTO, those with vertical headlights. I hate to see good parts get scrapped, but to sell ANY of it you need to FIND a buyer, and that could (and probably for the most of it) be never. He will probably have to decide what is more important to him, making money or being rid of it. I don't see those two going hand-in-hand, but I could be wrong. ID and Ebay. As an example, I have a nice fender and a 2 door hardtop door for a '64 Galaxie in the classifieds since 2015, and no one has even bothered to make an offer on either of them.
