Engine numbers on a 265 small block chevy. What do they mean? 0I96266T5. Thanks. Hope this is the right format

 

The numbers tell you what GM plant built the engine, when it was built and what vehicle it was installed in. I don't have my book close to decode it but I'm sure Squirrel will chime in soon.

 

Don't know. Should have been sbc ID.

 

You need the next two characters in the sequence, to figure out what it is.

clean it some more, maybe? scrape paint off?
