IMG_4398.JPG I determined that the new starter that came on the car was still good but there seems to be a problem in the circuit from the key to the starter.
I hooked up a temporary bypass switch and the car starts fine!;):)
Took it for its first extended drive and filled it with high test.:D
    A cruiser for sure.:)
Now to get it painted... what color do you want?
I'm thinking burgundy.;) Black cloth interior.:)
Did I mention it will be for sale?:D:D

  4. Sold a very rough 65 chevy 2 dr htp. It went to Kentucky. I had bought that heap on E bay just looking at the pictures. Not one of my best buys. I barely broke even. But it is gone!!!

IMG_4399.JPG Took the car on a much longer test run and got up to highway speeds. Even tested passing gear!
Runs great and rides good. Looked it over in the sun with my body guy and it still looked good. Only real thing we found was a slight dent in hood so I'm leaving it with him tomorrow to fix that and tweak a few other spots. Then off to get it painted.;):) I cleaned the rear bumper for the first time and it looks good... actually better than I thought it was!:)
The big Buick idles with two fours very smoothly at less than 500 rpm according to the tach... actually closer to 300 rpm!:D

  6. .................So, did you decide on a color, Al........I like the idea of Burgundy.:)

I think it is straight enough to be black but think Burgundy might standout better in a sea of black ones.
    Standout better to sell!!;):D:D

Recharged the a/c in the 49 and repositioned the door panel upholstery in the 49 so it’s covered by the window moldings.

Checking through some boat battery boxes (Dad's favorite storage idea) and found some parts I -KNEW- were still somewhere in the shed.... along with enough hardware to assemble a car from scratch. Spent about an hour picking through it and gave up, it's all good enough to keep. Even found a correct windsor coil bracket so I can put the coil back where it belongs. Being a packrat has it's benefits.

Adapted my 55 Stude horn button center to the center on the Buick sport wheel that is going on the Stude to replace the red IMG_20190419_181407114~2.jpg IMG_20190419_181558746~2.jpg metalflake wheel that has developed cracks and started leaking brown gook.

Well, it was Sunday, but....got up to 72 so I went out and painted a few small things I’ve been messing with. For spray bomb, this stuff is some really nice paint.

All I got done was replacing a faulty temperature controlled electric fan switch on my '37. It lasted 36 miles.

Well, I contributed to the bottom line of Anheuser Busch some, too.

I use John Deere and VanSickle implement paint on a lot of different parts. Especially those exposed to harder elements or useage. If it'll stay on tractors without chipping it'll handle a lot of where and what I use it for.

Broke the belt on my trusty Jet lathe. To change belt you need to disassemble spindle head. Found this neat adjustable belt.

I have extra to replace other belt when the time comes. Did not have to remove any parts to install belt.

  22. Van Sickle is fine paint. We use it exclusively on our tractors. It flows out nicely and has a great shine, even after a couple of years.

  23. Spent another few hours in the garage trying to fabricate a better floorboard for my truck. Stalled by running out of Dremel disks needed to cut the 18-gauge sheetmetal, but the latest attempt is looking better than the last three versions, which all were too half-ass for even my low standards.

Completed the 8.8 Explorer rear into our 56 Victoria with 11" drums from an F-150. Took over a week and fought me all the way. Wife helped the brake bleed and E-brake testing. Front discs next image.jpeg . IMG_2009.JPG

Went in hospital today for inspection as my recent EKG didn't turn out good..They went in through my right wrist..Surgeon found that the stent that was put in 9 years ago in the left artery was totally blocked..He said I didn't have a heart attack because the right artery had built some new vessels [or something to that effect] to make up for the blockage..Who'da thought? Got to see the Cardiologist to find out if if there is a plan; roto root or something else...

Good luck with that, hopefully they can fix that without open heart surgery!

20190423_203334.jpg 20190423_203445.jpg 20190423_204137.jpg Today I finished up the Cheater Slick Yo-Yo Shift Knob. Now to find a shinier shift lever!

  28. Previous page I said I couldn't find the oil leak and was going to light off the blower motor, well that was a bust thanks to a stuck gyrater in the fuel pump. Once I had the pump working again I fired it up and went for a local drive and found my oil leak, looks like the blower and intake are coming off...ugh
