Drive as is, while you bodywork and paint your steel fenders. Then see how you feel.

That’s definitely the plan. I have a couple other projects ahead of it. It will stay on the road and be enjoyed for a couple years before I get to anything major.

I'm in the DRIVE IT crowd but I would certainly be looking to address that paint before it starts corroding into the primer. It looks like there was some adhesion issues perhaps.

One color, and as much as I would hate to not use the nailhead, leave the drivetrain alone and DRIVE it. And the seat is pimptastic!.

I am going to edit your title a bit for you...remove the words "got" and "first" and what you have left is "my coupe". That should make this decision making procedure a hella of a lot easier. You need to be happy with your car...so does your Mrs.

super cool ride, man I would spot in the narly paint with some red oxide and buff the hell out of what is sticking on. I would work on suspension and drivability and enjoy it. People will ony know about the glass fenders when you tell them. Shorten those tail pipes for sure, dig the knockoff look. You can improve it as you enjoy it. I find when you tear'em apart you lose a couple of seasons, jusy my humble opinion. 36's rule, and I think the interior is timeless and damn nice.

A hacksaw and $12 fixed the tailpipes.

Nice car ! The 36 3W is one of the best designs of the early Fords. I'd keep it as is a drive it like others have said. When it comes to the next phase, I'd lose the rumble for a trunk. I've had both in a 36... the rumble was cool for about a week..... the trunk is way more useful for so many reasons. I just painted my 3W .... can't wait to get it back on the road. Best of luck.... drive the wheels off it !!

You can mount a license plate like I did on my cabriolet to hide the holes that held the spare tire.

I think I used a 40 pickup rear license plate bracket... I believe you might have one or two.;)
I documented it somewhere on the HAMB. The wires off the top of the license light go straight into the top hole for the spare tire.

.....and I'll add (like so many others) drive it. Make it yours slowly without blowing the car all apart. Don't push your own "Self Destruct" button (but I'm sure you could rebuild it exactly the way you'd want it).

This opinion is worth the price paid.;)

    NICE car BTW.
