    upload_2019-4-20_18-0-13.png Famous Bridges of L.A.
    Hello,

The iconic 4th Street Bridge in Los Angeles has been showcased in many movies and TV shows. The photo background views of the big time city, while driving over this bridge is unparalleled, night or day. It is one of the easiest ways to get into downtown LA from the 101 Freeway, when driving North. It is scenic, but, it is for cars and buses only.

Go North to the next freeway exit and one comes to the 1st Street Bridge. (IN THE PICTURE) This street also leads directly into downtown LA, but compared to the more Southerly (4th St.) route, this street is always clogged with traffic and the ever present rail line to the downtown area. (The rail line merges with downtown traffic just before the Alameda St. crossing.)

So, unless there is a problem at the 4th Street exit to the downtown LA area, that is the exit of choice for us. The First Street Bridge has a dedicated rail separation for the whole span along with narrow driving lanes. As visitors to the downtown LA centers, one has to make a choice.

For us long time So Cal residents that have plenty of travel time in the LA area, the 4th Street exit is the one to choose. Knowing which routes to take in the bustling metropolis of LA makes car road trips so much better and enjoyable.

The old 40 Highway Drive in at about US 40 Highway and Noland Rd, on the east side of Kansas City, MO. It closed sometime in the 80s and there is a strip center on the land.

Emblem on front looks like New York Central, it ran from the East Coast to the Mississippi River.

Living in Poulsbo in the early 70's My step Mom took me on a shopping spree for my Birthday to Seattle! Taking the ferry from Bremerton, it was a perfect clear day. I got as many model kits that I could carry! Best B-day ever! Years later, I heard a song called "The Bluest Skies You've ever seen are in Seattle" Here the first few Lyrics:
"The bluest skies you've ever seen in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green in Seattle
Like a beautiful child growing up free and wild
Full of hopes and full of fears
Full of laughter full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years in Seattle"

Out in the waters on that Ferry, It is true! So Beautiful! As for the rest of Lyrics, they are true too as I will never forget ! I have lived in SoCal since 1989 and have traveled back a few times since and it is the same feeling on a nice day!
