Hot Rods Brought the old beater home this morning -

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Apr 19, 2019.

  1. Wearing it's new threads, man does a interior make a big difference when it comes to sound, with the windows up I know Brenda and I can now communicate without yelling at the top of our lungs and road noise is at a minimum.

I did notice a noise I had never heard in the past and a quick inspection under the hood reviled a bent vane on the alternator just touching the belt, that was corrected pretty easy and I was off and running.

Drove home in a driving rain but I didn't notice any leaks, that's a good thing.

Here is the old beater sitting safely in my garage. HRP

Very nice! A good interior is highly underrated, yet so often overlooked.

Nice work, the smile on your face is going to go all the way to your ears.

"I did notice a noise I had never heard in the past and a quick inspection under the hood reviled a bent vane on the alternator just touching the belt..." Chasing noises is like pealing an onion, every time you eliminate a noise, the slightly quieter ride allows you to hear the next noise...

Great looking 32’, I know you call it a beater but I would jump over many a “street rod”to get to your car.

I wouldn’t jump over them I’d just walk past like they weren’t there.
Actually I do that a lot at most car events.
Around here the cars worth looking at are few and far between.
Really nice interior Danny the old beater deserves the love.

I like the bench seat, I have had them in most of my older cars, they are the norm in a '32 Mordoor so why not?

As you can see, the seat slides forward and the back tilts forward, it's still not easy getting in the back even with bucket seats, Rarely anyone rides in the back and basically all we ever put in the back is a ice chest, suit case and a couple of chairs. HRP

Well happy birthday and the classic stitching goes hand in hand with your '32. Bet you have a satisfied feeling with that being done.

I agree with AVater.....you can hardly call it a "beater" any more.

FWIW....I really like the term "beater". I think it was once described as a car/truck that could use the not-quite-perfect parts and be driven and enjoyed. I kinda recall when the term started being used, maybe back in the mid 70's? Beaters of all sorts always appealed to me that they were to be used, not just working you constantly to keep them polished up. Me, being inherently lazy, never did like polishing anything so "beater" class cars and motorcycles have always been right down my alley!

  27. Don, I have no intent to paint the car, heck it's been painted twice ! once at the factory and again in 1962, I will admit the fenders have been repaired from minor bumps and shot in black primer back in the late 80's. HRP
