Started making throttle assembly this week, made it bolt in and adjustable, also brought some tyres and found out I needed new rear rims as old ones had to much backspace and fowled calipers. I have new 7 inch black smoothies on the way then I can fit new tyres - cannot wait. Glen
Fitted new wheels and tyres and mocked up the headlights - initially wasn't going to use a headlight bar but I kinda like it, I also think the taillights are much better black. Glen
Started fabricating new floor today, was going to use old piece covering gearbox ( just clean it up and add some beading ) but unsure, may make a new one. A few pics, Glen
Started mounting floor this week, the old floor was glued down and had to be destroyed to get out. I decided to make new floor removable and just happened to have lots of dzus fasteners laying around. Early days yet, will need to make opening for brake booster / master cylinder access and put through bead roller to make them pretty - will be painted black when finished. I have also decided to fabricate new transmission tunnel instead of using old one, I'm unsure whether to run carpet or not, at this stage I won't be. Glen
A few pics of today's progress, also started making rear bars for the roll cage - will post more pics tomorrow. Glen
Love the car, dig the steering wheel, and respect your work, but those taillights would be better changed, not just black, IMO.
Love all the comments guys, I am still not 100% on the tail lights myself ( my son doesn't think they suit the car either ) but the more I look at them every time I'm in the shed, I feel they are growing on me, kinda 60s show car look. They will be staying on the car for a while anyway, at least until car is on the road - I need to focus on completing this car as it is taking to long. I do plan on purchasing or making a new rear panel in the future though. Started making rear bars for the roll cage this week, no room to mount them up high and make cage drag race legal but I just had to make do with the room I had. They will provide some support, Im mainly after added support for upper seat belt mount. This will be evident later when I am up to that stage, stay tuned. Glen
Shed getting to cluttered so I decided to assemble Topolino and store up at house garage along with dirt bikes. Now I have heaps more room. Glen
Thanks for kind comments. A few pics of today's progress, rolled some beads in rear interior panel - not perfect but bead rolling is harder than it looks. Lucky for me they wont be seen, using experience as practice. Glen
A few pics of today's progress, used English wheel and stretcher / shrinker for the first time, happy with result. Glen
Thanks, today I rolled some edges on floor panels to locate trans cover, I think it came out ok. Glen
I seen a 350 with 409 rocker covers on you tube so I tried to replicate it, The one I seen had covers placed on top of original SBC covers. I tried it but it did not work so I had to make adapters. Check out pics Glen
I forgot to mention that I will be using the excess 16 mm alloy to make carby spacers to make engine more proportionate. Glen
looks to me like u be trapping a lot of oil in those valve covers. Be a mess when you remove the covers. After 1st start with full oil check dip stick & see how much disappeared into the covers. Unless u have some drains I can not see.
I was thinking about same issue last night, I may even duplicate angle on bench and measure amount they may hold. Happy to run more oil and use some sort of tray when pulling covers off. I still have heaps more work to do before they are ready to use. Thanks for input, Glen
Rolled car out of shed today to check out rocker covers from a distance. I like em and will now finish and install them, I will have to make some firewall mods to fit right side unit, check out pics. Glen
Started fabricating sheet metal for rear of car this week, early days but progress none the less. A few pics, Glen
Due to chassis up in boot area and four link mount positions leaves limited options for exhaust, I decided to fold up some sheet metal and will section boot floor. I will then mount rear pipes angled down thru sectioned areas. Early days and future pics will explain more, Glen
I was thinking the same thing, if thsts what some one was calling a panhard bar, them they should quit building suspensions, cuz that there aint gonna work.....just sayin Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Lol, now i see where that blown hemi was up to. I was thinkin if you are putting it in that Coupe then you got a shit load more chassis work to do!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
