I presume that is a glass body the way the door skin popped off. Another tragic case of, "I think I've got enough room.".

Jerks like that make all street rodders look bad. Drinking and driving is bad enough, but in a blown, pro-street car is crazy. He deserves everything he has coming to him.

I bet that steering wheel to the chest hurt like a sonofabitch... unless of course he took the time to put his five point belt on before he drove drunk...

 

I have a hard time understanding the comments that make light of this situation. If a person had been in the area it quickly could have turned tragic, fortunately that was not the case, yet there is still no logical reason to dismiss this fool’s actions with lame humor.

700 H.P., 'glass car, narrow frame; Uncontrollable traction tires, Mustang II front-steer, Heck! I don't think I could have steered that 'glassic' thru that narrow channel either.
'Course, I don't make a habit of driving loosely suspended over-steerers, ever.

Driving While Idiot

 

Suspected intoxicated driver loses control and crashes into a home in Ravena. Crews were called to 16 South Clement Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, for a car that had reportedly crashed into a home. Ravena, Coeymans and New Baltimore fire departments, along with Ravena Rescue, Albany County Sheriff's Ambulance, Albany County Paramedics and Coeymans Police all responded to the call. There were multiple cans of beer spilling from the car. Witnesses say the vehicle rapidly accelerated from Main Street when they started to skid down the road, striking the curb and then striking the house. Both the driver and the passenger of the car were transported to the hospital.

 

So the curb caused it.

 

Unfortunately, drinking and driving was common back in the On-Topic days. Texans measured distances in 6-packs of beer. The following story comes from a time before the lawyers controlled all corporate activity.

In 1968, I was a 24 year old tech for Microwave Associates in Burlington, MA. Some employees, in the department beside us, quit and started their own company. The executives called an evening meeting for about a dozen of us who were likely to jump ship. It was held in a conference room of a local hotel with a VERY OPEN bar. Fortunately, no body was injured in the aftermath.

The youngest of us ended up against a tree in a residential back yard. The grizzled old Air Force veteran admitted that he had to drive home with one eye closed.

 

Another example of not using common sense and it puts us all in a bad light with the public. HRP

 

Doesn't matter if it's hot rod ,street rod, rat rod, motor cycle or even just a plain driver a DWI just gives everybody a bad name....
It just shows how ignorant the driver of that particular car at the point of time

 

Having a fast car and beers is just extra stupid on the dumbass meter.

 

another drunk off the road with nobody else hurt , ok with me ,that right front fender got through ok .strange

 

My experience is that drunk drivers still drive, they just have no license/insurance.
