New A 318 (Poly) Intake Manifold

I believe everyone has sold the old poly short. For all around street driving and torque, which moves weight, witch is what it's all about. The poly cannot be beat. If half the aftermarket would have put parts engineering in the poly, the small block chevy would not be what it is today.JMO Lippy

I had one on a '65 Fury (since sold). It is a quality piece.

 

Slightly off topic - info wanted - there seems to be two different poly head configurations. The early (?) ones have a very pronounced "scalloped" shape, similar to a Chevy 348. Later heads are less so, more like a "sawtooth" shape. I'd like to find an engine with the earlier version. What year/model car should I be looking for? Are the blocks interchangeable? The manifolds? Will this "new" manifold fit the earlier heads? Are there any aluminum valve covers available?

The other Poly engines, as you describe, are Poly versions of the older-style Hemi engines. They don't interchange at all. Used in Dodge and De Soto, if I recall correctly, about 1958, 1959. This manifold won't fit them as they have separate valley covers.

 

This intake is for 1957 to 1966/67 277/301/313/318/325 A series Plymouth/Dodge Poly, this engine has the sawtooth shaped lower edge to the rocker covers, alloy rocker covers are available from Alan Fountain in Oz and CPM in the USA, each slightly different but only for the 57-67 Poly....CPM has cams, stroker kits, pistons, etc available........andyd

 

Dodge hemi based Polys were also used in Plymouths, '55 & some '56s.

 

Friend of mine is looking for a 3 duce manifold for a 318 Poly motor. Anyone have an idea where he can get a gold of one?

 

They turn up on eBay from time to time. My son has bought a few off there, mostly Edelbrocks but he did get one Weiand which is in my shed now!

Keep in mind that there were (2) 3-deuce manifolds made for the Poly 318, one from Edelbrock and one from Weiand. The Edelbrock P600 is the better piece and is a dual-plane. The Weiand is a single plane. I have a P600 for sale that will come with a 3-deuce to single 4-barrel plenum I made. PM me here.
