Why yes Bob, that is a wooden deck suspension bridge swaying in the 30 mph wind. Let’s cross it. Dammit Bob, couldn’t you hold it? 2FA885CB-8D92-4C5E-94B9-1757DEDA1266.jpeg 82A73654-A116-4B29-A483-9820D85F9F86.jpeg EA9D92C3-CCFF-4EE6-B499-04332E22DF7D.jpeg 8EB90C08-7CEF-438B-B19A-1E0093D57DE7.jpeg

Randomly see this old Depot in Eureka Springs, do naturally had to poke around. They weren’t open but they let us in anyhow. Forgot to get pics inside the depot. 166D140B-648B-4F9E-9F8B-6781E13A1DBC.jpeg E12F3787-1F8C-4848-9D60-B40CD5331AA2.jpeg DCA37775-BC20-4B4E-9F9C-F7EEAEE1C40C.jpeg 86DE1368-D6B5-4459-AED9-9D4E10EB34C0.jpeg 11B93BA1-3866-4ED0-B469-24F90AB01408.jpeg F1DB996E-E429-4D74-9AA9-AC5B3518F360.jpeg 9D259FFF-AB84-472B-8392-728A0671C7D9.jpeg 58C87807-A093-4A0F-AF2F-CC70281E66C0.jpeg

So we went to find Jesus. He said hot rods are the Devil’s work and turned his back on us. I guess he’s more of a custom guy. Then off through Eureka Springs and to the Pig Trail Scenic byway. Been to Eureka Springs twice on our trips to USA. Great town but we did a trip in December(winter) and it is like a ghost town. With our son and his new wife in 2010(she is a St Louis girl) and closed the bar at about 1am after lots of Patron tequila.

I haven’t lived in Iowa City for over 20 years. Does my heart good to see that Friday’s is still there! Hoping the Fox Head and George’s Buffet are too.

This is such a great thread and cause, thank you.

Spent the night in Mens AR. Over the Talimena scenic byway this morning. A bit hazy, and this car is way to fun to drive on a road like this when there is no one around. Didn’t stop for many pictures though. Then it was just miles and miles of Texas. Swung by an open house along the way. I forgot the name of the shop but I think he may be a HAMBer 4ED9D716-3F14-4D7D-B5F5-C125B05E4904.jpeg 8DFBAD74-5505-436B-A94B-B9F48222F621.jpeg F85C3FC6-CED3-4F8E-8FFE-B6BD059FBA0C.jpeg F6B8B1EC-1056-4C5E-A78E-07F624C06B15.jpeg D9ABF668-DEDB-4A56-BD44-BF22A582709F.jpeg .

And 1145 miles later, I picked up my registration packet, pitched the tent, and went to eat. See y’all tomorrow. I guess I better clean it up so it don’t look so bad among the feature cars I will be parking with. 3631DB14-AF86-4037-A1DB-23374E6A8C0C.jpeg

Got up and cleaned the road carnage up a bit and rolled over to the Feature car area right inside the spectator gate. AB47A1A9-FDDA-445D-8242-FAC36AB8905E.jpeg 56AB760F-C6EA-4094-AA37-DFC4F5A55624.jpeg

After waking up to 2” of water around the tent, which was starting to leak, I headed to the show. The next storm messed up the tent, bug my pal Hot Rod Ed has an extra bed at his hotel. So we threw everything in and spent Saturday night in town.
After being wet and cold, we both blasted out of Austin 5 am Sunday morning. 45 degrees got a bit chilly at interstate speeds. I was making pretty good time as I decided to just take all interstate home, that is until I blew a tube at 70-80 mph in Kansas City. Got to the side of the interstate and made some calls.
I called Hagerty for a tow to someplace safe to fix a tire, but of course no one was open after 5 on a Sunday. A couple more phone calls got me help close by. A Kansas trooper pulled up and called for their roadside repair truck. The guy was off yesterday, but when he heard what I needed he loaded up and came out on his day off. I had a tube with me, I just need a Jack, air, and one more prying device. He had those on board and I changed the tube on the side of the interstate and was bolting the tire on just as the rollback pulled up. I tried calling to cancel but he was already too close.
I spent the night with my wife who is in Des Moines for job training and finished the trip home this morning. Warming up and then time to unload the car 095DA2AE-00C1-411F-8F21-8FAC2756F61F.jpeg C42D8BF4-3C13-4163-8952-E5C67FA42D5F.jpeg 5C418BAA-0B2C-4837-99C9-14BAE26BA9F8.jpeg FDA8B998-221D-40D9-A3E4-51182B677760.jpeg 7D9D227A-12A8-4790-8C87-9055D9B017D8.jpeg

Glad you made it home safe, I heard about your tire trouble a few hours past when I could have been any help. Sounds like they got you sorted fairly quick though thankfully :)

Love the car and love watching the trip!

Glad to see you had a safe trip home. Hopefully that isn't the last road trip story we see from that car.

...what they said...that could have been nasty. Speaking of nasty...that was one big friggin nasty cloud full of everything...that in itself was a force to avoid...it hit us up this way last night...no funnels though thankfully.

It will be the last road trip in it for me. It will become some one else's ride on May 4th when we give it away. Still time to get in on it at Vintagetorquefest.com. Info on the charity at Helpinghannahsheart.org. I will definitely be doing more road trips with Bob. I usually just do like I did on the trip home and just blast through. He served the reminder that there is so much to see when you slow down and look.
