  5. Lots of old cars with modern wheels in this thread.

  6. Lot's of cool Henry J's here. This one is owned and driven in the SEGA series by Troy Lightner. It moves pretty good and is fun to watch. Photographed here at North Myrtle Beach Dragstrip last summer.

Ya, I didn’t either. I think the car has been restored. I’m trying to find a picture.

1953-allstate (1).jpg What kind of car is this?

(If you said "Henry J", go to the back of the class. It's an "Allstate", marketed by the soon-to-become-defunct Sears Company.)

I saw some Allstates and they had hood badges on the front drivers side. Not all of them?

  22. Took the J out for a cleaning on Sunday. First time ever i washed it since i bought it 7 years ago. Also removed the spiketires and put on the real ones. Har a man with a camera on a visit from the local newspaper. They wanted to make a story for there yearly motormagazine that they do for 7-8 newpapers around the part of Sweden where i live. The Magazine will come with the morningpaper in about 2 weeks

Here’s one for ya. My father in law and his brother ran this in the late 60’s. IMG_1809.JPG

  25. RIGHT!, but who manufactured the Allstate (which could be purchased out of the Sears-Roebuck catalogue)?

Yep, nobody wants to race on 40-60 years old junk wheels.

  27. Sure, I get that. But most of these fake gassers don't actually race anyway.
So, nobody makes a new retro style wheel anymore?

I would not call a Henry J a funny car by any stretch of the imagination. There were a few early all fiberglass full bodied cars (including Big Al) but the first all glass funny cars were the factory Mercury Comets.
