83E8FE33-9B41-41A0-8333-65B50D8A7594.jpeg I am new to this site but figured it wouod be the best place to find this answer. I am building a chopped , channeled , custom 51 chevy 2 door. I saw a bumper on an instagram post that fit the car nicely that it was on. I was unsure what car or cars it came off of? Any help would be greatly appreciated .

sure doesn't look to me like it fits the car well at all, look how far back it is from the rear body panel, looks too wide also. and yes it looks like a 55 pontiac bumper. but fits poorly

It's a "rat rod". Of course it doesn't fit! It's also missing the splash apron. Add that, and bring the bumper in a little and it will fit better. Section it a little in the overrider before chrome and the width problem will be solved.

The '55 Pontiac bumper is an excellent choice for the Chevrolet, but may be hard to find.

It can also be used without the over rider, if it not available.

Another good choice is the '53 Pontiac bumper (right), which may be easier to find.
These are in full dress mode, but it works perfectly with the Chevy contours in stripped down form.
It is a bolt on, if used with Pontiac brackets.

From the looks of Ccar334's avatar it will fit right when he is done. The good thing about the Pontiac bumper outside of it's great looks is that you can pick it up a piece at a time if you find one with one or two good parts and piece it together rather than having to hunt down a complete unit.
