Should I? Ok, I'm a big fan of Larry Watson so paint will be influenced by Watson. It will be something like Watson did on Jim Doss 1958 Chevy Impala. Vision of the paint plan is hidden in my brains. There will be some extra twist on paint but let that be a secret for now.

Here is a update... Whole car is now sanded again and ready for that pearl white. Doors are painted from inside a while ago. Last weekend I fitted hinges and doors back in the car. Door gaps should've been better to match todays standards but I wanted to keep them as they were back in the day. Just only to keep in mind that how roughly these cars were built. I can live with that but I know many that just can't.... DSC_0493.jpeg DSC_0505.jpeg DSC_0507.jpeg DSC_0508.jpeg

I'm with you on the gaps if original look is what you like.
Plan to go that way with my slightly off topic build.

I'm not so much of a stock/original guy but I like to keep something from the past. That's my way how I want to build these.
Yeah, I saw this a while ago. Roof looks really awesome.

I have said that my wagon would be never for sale, but you'll never know. Never say never... At this moment it's still a keeper.

It's really hard to take a pic from white pearl so that you can actually see how it really looks but here it is. DSC_0509.jpeg

Looks like few pics should be another way than they appear...

Yesterday I painted door jambs and gave them a little custom touch. IMG_20190219_192546_733.jpeg

Later this week last parts was fitted back to the car. Tailgate hinges were still without paint so I painted them yesterday and bolted tailgate also back to the car. I thought first that I'll do everything today but I changed my mind and started to do masking also yesterday so that I can start painting earlier. That was a good call because it still took a quite long to get it finished and ready for paint. Hours later second stage of this paint job is now done. Now it can sit few days before third stage... Been kinda busy lately with other shit what's going on but last weekend was filled with lots of masking, painting and more painting. Last friday after work I started to plan my paint job with few rolls of fine line tape and side moldings. If I remember it right I taped almost 6 hours at friday night before I gave up and went back home to get some sleep. Early at the saturday morning I went back and continued taping and masking what took about 6 hours more or something... After that it was finally time to shoot some pearls. Saturday was turning into a evening so I decided to call it a tonight and leave clear coating to a sunday morning. Before I left home I really had to pull out few tapes to see how it looks... Sunday morning I removed rest of the tapes and masking papers. After that it was ready for a another round of masking before set of clear coat. Now paint job is almost finished...finally! Cool, good luck with your project!
Yep, first I shot that orange pearl and then covered outlines with thin fine line tape. Just to make sure that red paint don't go over orange I taped it over with normal masking tape. Then I shot that red pearl over it. This way you'll have sharp edge stripes around panels, scallops etc. Of course all of the stripes should've been done with brushes but I decided to do it this way.

Btw, all that taping was approx. 160 m/174yd. Sunday it felt like I have done some kind of exercise.

Well it's about month since last update. I've been bit lazy working with this but a week ago I thought that this thing has to be ready before june and back in my garage. Last monday I started shoot final clear on it. First set was hood, front fenders and tailgate and then doors. Hauled them back home and started to work on rest of the body. This weekend was free of anything else so I cleared rest of the body yesterday and today. Front and little of firewall got also some fresh black paint. Rear quarter window mouldings and rear pillar mouldings got some white base color.

So now paint job is finally done..! Well not quite but almost. Just those mouldings needs to be finished and I'll be doing that tomorrow.

    Damn, this thing is going to ready later this year... DSC_0779.jpeg DSC_0780.jpeg DSC_0776.jpeg DSC_0773.jpeg DSC_0772.jpeg IMG_20190509_073231_367.jpeg IMG_20190509_073231_366.jpeg

    Thanks guys!

It's been a long journey with this build and I'm glad that hardest part is now done. Life has given me ups and downs, lost motivation on this several times but never really gave up on it...
