Or a robust discussion if mirror muffs are traditional.

Guess I’ll admit this too....fancy chrome wheels are rims to me. Have been since I was a kid. I don’t know if it’s a regional thing or a generational thing. Painted steel wheels are wheels in my vocabulary tho. I’m not sure what I call the oversized things with rubberband tires. This is all very thought provoking

In my part of Socal in the fifties this is how my friends and I described the subject matter:
    Chrome Rims
    Mag Wheels

Sore subject. I just sent off a pair of wide5 inner sections to Stockton for welding into wider hoops. I packed them proper, in a reasonable size box that weighted maybe 5lbs. The lady at the PO charged me $39.00!!! $39 dollars to send them across the country and the PO says they are going broke? It just took my breath away when she said that, she actually backed away from the counter. It was a little bigger than a medium sized pizza box and you can imagine how little it weighted, I know it was under 5lbs.

I said "wheels," and was admonished by the young Gypsy-looking cat on my left...
    "Reems, Esa...Reems!"
    I stood 'corrected'...

Growing up riding dirt bikes made it simple: A rim is what you bent and a wheel is what you took off to fix it.

Without knowing the size of your carton I plugged in the 5# you mentioned and a size of 18" x 6" x 18", it could ship USPS Retail Ground for $23.02. Next time you want to ship go to https://postcalc.usps.com/ and check for your best option, I have found that different clerks will give different info and pricing, they really have no idea of all the options available. Most of them could care less about saving you a buck, and some would rather give you attitude than actually give good, solid help to a customer.

  12. Fuck that!!!
Should have thrown them in the car and drove them down yourself! :D:p

12-1/4 square by 6" is $18.00 in the flat rate box.

Only time I call them rims is when I'm searching on Craigslist and looking for things posted WRONG! Like looking for Wiland, Kirkley, Wildwood...…..idiots make it an interesting place.

  17. Have to know your market as well as your audience.

Takes 10 mins a wheel, call it an hour...
Calls come 25 times quicker if the car being sold has pictures of "Blacked out rhiiiums"

Rims were one of the first things you put on your Camero along with hedders for your small black Chevy motor.
