These Wisconsin cars always intrigued me, they are unlike any other cars from the era. I have asked on other boards about the rearward rake to the frames and have never gotten an answer as to why. What was the exact setup and why was it done?

For weight transfer, these cars were very heavy running 8' wide rear tires harder than a rock, the tires lasted forever and the HP available overpowered the tires/chassis design, most were parallel torsion bar rear, spring front. In their time frame, they had a good set of rules to try to keep cost down, I know several men well that ran these cars and actually made money/profit and midpack guys could break even, something unheard of in general related to racing. The progress/evolution to tube frame/modern style/sprint car style broke the club up about the same time tire advancements/engine HP race/chassis escalated costs. There are several die hard fans/car owners that keep the old cars alive and race exhibition vintage racing here in Wisconsin.

My grand son, now 21 in the Marine corps overseas, was awarded the rank of Eagle when he was 17. Yeah I think so... No cars here but it fits. With his mom and dad at the ceremony DSC00359.JPG .

  25. Good for Him, a real accomplishment. I did get the God and Country award as shown on his uniform but no Eagle.
