Here is the Stovanovich Plymouth, "The Tangerine", with the "pearl white impressions" mentioned in the text.

Here is the same car, as originally built by Leroy Heinrich, before being sold and reworked
by Stovanovich's cousin, Jerry DeVito (of "The Maze" '57 Ford fame.) C'est la Vie!

The "Curled Flame" '49 Ford is quite reminiscent of Earl Bruce's Von Dutch-flamed 300SL.

It's good to see this sectioned ForDor again. It appeared in HRM decades ago, but I don't recall any TV connection.

The Jack Florence (Fostoria Customs)-built Merle Taggart Riviera is still around, albeit in chopped top form (ala Larry Cramer).

    As built...

  12. I don't want to make waves, but lately I've been seeing more and more of this. How is it that anyone can think that blackwalls look better than any whitewall--skinny or wide on a custom? Sheeesh........E

  13. I think it sometimes comes down to $$$ and the era the car may have been redone

While it might appear to the untrained eye as an untouched Classic, this subtle beauty features (among other mods) a 2" chopped top, and one-piece curved windshield!

  24. I agree about somebody trying to recreate a depression era custom when nobody had extra money for whitewalls. Or recreating a custom built during World War II when people were all sacrificing things in their life to help the war effort--like whitewalls. But, someone that is building a custom nowadays and spends a ton of dough on body work and paint, chroming, interior, etc., what is another grand for wide whites, or even a set of pinner whites from Discount Tire or similar tire stores?
The early blackwall customs representing the era up to about 1945 or so get a pass on the whitewalls. But every other custom built any time later should ALWAYS have whitewalls. Just my opinion, for whatever that's worth (lol)! E
