Hot Rods Foreign Car at Bubbas ????

My son Scott brought the "Krylon Special" over last night for some much needed minor service. I call it "foreign " as it is a 1920 Dodge with a slant six engine.. I built this car at our gasoline alley shop the way it would have been done many years ago. Loaned it to my son after a trip to the hundred car show in Illinois and he just never brought it back home . My wife and i just gave him the title for christmas one year. Simplest car i have ever owned and has been driven for approx 12-15 years ??? More details as we remove the 600 holley and have it Speedy-isd ( rebuilt and recolored ) .......

Scotts fine , just built a new house the other side of town. Painting his garage floor while i store the Krylon car.....

I always thought that the "leaning tower of power" was one of Mopar's better efforts. Any details on the build?

 

Will post some other details on this car as the week goes by. Its full of cheap "simple" items that make up the package.....

Wow , thanks Bill problem is that over the years every picture has a story ( usually long and funny) to go with it. But the pics tell the story really well. Indianapolis has a ton of hot rod guys and some are fair weather pansys!!! When we built our first series of Roadsters the mission was to drive them no matter what. I drove this car to the Hundred car show on its first outing in pooring rain !! Tom C followed me up in his custom Lincoln "Lorreta". When we got there Toms car had two streaks down the hood from the splash coming off the tires. For a few years we called our selfs Roadster Pilots .

Maybe Scott will chime in here with a story or two.??????

 

Some little details as i went to the shop this morning. Lot of guys were involved in this build and we used what we could find . Dustin Cooper ( Cooper Autobody today) worked for me when he was in highschool and pinstriped the car , created the boat cover air cleaner (was hanging in Tom Culbertsons garage) and had the tail lights in a box under his be at home !

Denny Jamison at "Hammer Art" fit the body to the car and mounted the slant six engine (actually off set in the chassis so it would set lower ..........

 

This started as a early dodge roadster, my six cylinder predates the slant by a few years.

 

I've seen this car several times over the years but I don't remember seeing that plate on the front of the air cleaner cover before. So "SeaKing" was a Monkey-Wards store brand?

This rig has to have one of the highest "fun-per-dollar ratios" out there!

I know it's been on the road a long time, but how well did that steering work?

 

The driveability of this car has been amazing!! Steers very good with the Vega box etc. Front tie rod works very well ( some have said that wont work ?) Had some coil over shock spring issues but once we got the correct spring on the car it rides really good.! Front friction shocks are torqued often. The four wheel disc brakes also stop super well. Best driving car ever ....
