    1964 galaxie.
    Purchased cc850 aerostar coil springs.

They are the same height as the stock springs but in every other comparison pic they are much shorter.

Also, the ends of the springs are different sizes so the new coils wont fit properly I to the lower a arm.

    Help!! Lsru or bust!

  3. I have heard of this swap.

Those new springs don’t look like Aerostar springs.
From all what I’ve read the Aerostar springs afford a 3”-4” drop on 62-66 full size fords.
Was thinking about this on my 64 merc. Springs are cheap enough to try.

I would see if you got the wrong springs shipped out, or possibly boxed wrong.

  4. Quick google search.
Looks like you ended up with the REAR coil springs from the van

^^. Front springs, 2 wheel drive is what you’re looking for.

I think CC850's were the ones I put in my '56 Ford. Not sure for a '64...

Everything I've read and heard about the Aerostar front springs in the 1960 to '64 big Ford cars is that they produce too much drop and would probably need a spacer on top of them to limit this.

Let us know how this plays out for you, I'm interested to see if you can make it work.

Those definitely don’t look like the Aerostar springs I used in my wagon.

There are urathane spacers of different thickness that fits Toyota pickup rears that worked well for me on top of the Areostars. I used them for leveling and silence pads.

Ido not think those are areostar springs for the front they do not look like mine i put i my 56 wagon

  11. I agree, those don't look like the ones I bought. Look them up on a Moog chart, it describes the ends. I tried them in my '59 Ford... too short. Look at the CC851 springs, better all around than the ones everyone jumps on. Or just whack 1 coil off your OG springs.

From what others are saying it sounds like your coils may have been miss-boxed.
Not the first time that's happened in the land of auto parts. Good luck.

  14. I did that on my '59 Ford, the Aerostars were a bust for me. Can't sell them since shipping is around $40 alone and just about anyone ships them FREE. I acid dipped the PG ones, cut off 1 coil, painted them and installed them. I may go another 1/2 coil when I have it apart again.
