Installed helicoils to fix the stripped threads for the transmission inspection cover, while I can reach them to do it. Had to remove the starter, but the oil pan was already out of the way.

Oil pan, filter, and inspection cover back on, buttoning up the bottom side of things finally.

New lifters, pushrods, and rockers installed. Preload set.

Installed the intake manifold and accessory brackets. Torquing down the last intake bolt, discovered that the threads are stripped out of the hole. Probably explains why that bolt loosened up on me and caused a coolest leak last year.

Swore a bunch. Removed intake and accessory brackets. Cleaned up the resulting mess.

Now I need a 3/8-16 helicoil kit. OReilly’s web site says that they have one in stock.

  2. Met up with my good friend Timmy, for some BBQ. It was his first time out in his Chevy. Since having both his knees replaced. Technically it would've been yesterday as I'm posting a little late.;) Lol Ron.... 20190330_183752.jpeg 20190330_183411.jpeg

Took the front seat out of the Galaxie to work on the sliders. Broke three bolts. Couldn't find a missing steel ball or come up with a substitute, but did manage to get enough white grease in them to make them work for the time being. With working slides I can get enough room to work without having to remove the seat (again).

Hey Dane, maybe if you didn't spend so much time with your friend on the welding table you would get something done!

Got the '35 Plymouth chassis to real roller status today! Ready to drop engine/trans in and run the exhaust system. Just some junk tires/wheels for now.

  12. Went to williford and met a guy there and sold him a truck seat. Since I was there I hooked to my Sons Ot 72 chev Pk with my wrecker and towed it to my place. His turbo 350 trans took a dump. If it was mine I would cut a hole in the floor and install a granny 4 speed.

Well, OReilly’s computer lied, no helicoil kit. Found one at AutoZone, after doing the “year, make, and model?” dance.

Got the intake and accessory brackets back on and torqued. Getting closer.

Decided I needed to get my shop shed straightened out so I spent all afternoon tossing out crap. And, ironically, even though I didn't know I had one, I found a dimmer switch pigtail for the Galaxie! Oddly enough, I often find stuff that way. Also found out I have a Mustang mast jacket upper collar that I may be able to use for the Galaxie.

Recently moved to a new home and shop space. I thought the move was a big deal but now outfitting the shop is going to be a lot of work.

After a lot of thought and design was completed we installed my 15' Harrison lathe and 42" milling machine. Now the hard work begins,

This weekend was building the main work bench. Steel legs and a nice metal top. Then is was repurposing several used metal drawer sets and cabinets. Removed all drawer fronts and doors sanded primed and finish painted 12 drawers and 4 cabinet doors. They are now drying to be reinstalled later this week. Need to get the bench up and running with all drawers and cabinets to put tools in so I can continue to work on the shop. Photos to follow later this week. I'm setting aside the spring and summer to get the shop in order for car work to start September 1st...………….come hell or hi water

    just sayin'

UNSHINED 2, the unibody really starting to take shape! Nice work. Looking forward to our mid May rod run. I pretty much just have spring fire up and clean up to do to either one. Get this cast cut off in two weeks and then a walking cast or boot for two more. Catch you later.

Good to hear youre healing up. Bet youll be happy to be able to get around a little better. Be good for us all to be cruising come Mid-May!!!!!

Grabbed a beer with a friend at the local watering hole on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. He just bought this 50 a couple weekends ago and hasn't got out of it since. 13,000 original miles, plastic covers on the seats, all original other than a little drop and some pipes.

Trained in the Burn Trailer, a 300 degree roasting oven. That's me without a helmet on, looking ready to keel over. Senior member of the department overdue for pasture.
