Injector Scoops....Lotsa pictures.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kiwi Kev, Oct 18, 2007.

  1. Mine, I only know of two I've seen in person that had the 15 fins across the top. Most of the other Enderle Barndoor scoops were smooth across the top and the MOON version has three fins.

Enderle hat that had never been machined, the three butterfly openings were as cast.

    Please excuse the OT fender.

  11. Step Cousin Mark was over a couple months ago - brought me his magnesium Crower Goliath injector . . . for a project I've got back into that has taken WAY too many years! Anyway, we drug out some of my injectors and had an blower/injector porn party. Things that only guys and just a few women would ever understand . . . I assure you, no alcohol was involved! LOL

The 8 port Crower is perfect for an EFI conversion - in that you can stage the second set of butterflies in (like a four barrel) - or only run air through the one side. This makes it a lot more "streetable" off of idle. Now - I need to have it polished and I'm going to try a ceramic clear coating on it . . . see if that happens to work.

    Enjoy!

One of the “best in design” scoops back in 1959, becomes one of the best in 2012-2018. The custom made scoop design for Dean Lowe’s immaculate RPU comes from the original Speed Sport Roadster going all the way back to 1959 era.
    ...The classic design still lives...

    Hello,

Injector scoops come in all shapes and sizes. Back in the early 60s, people were using the “latest technology” to possibly go faster than their opponents. Whatever works, despite the look of the design. When I went to college in San Jose, my neighborhood had these yellow plastic newspaper delivery cubbyholes in front of every house. Instead of a paper thrown in the yard or on the front steps, it was neatly placed into these yellow containers.

I had never noticed the yellow scoop on Jerry Card’s Competition Coupe at Bakersfield in 1960, until I kept repeating the film for watching the illegal rolling start by his competitor, the Leffler Bros in the finals. Then the yellow scoop flashed back to 1965-66 in the San Jose college days.

The old saying is “Whatever floats your boat.” But for us, it was 1960’s backyard hot rod ingenuity at its best.
From one great looking design to one of the best use of something other than drag racing purposes…

I'd like to find something similar in aluminum for my 4 port. Or maybe build one.

Not sure why I'm building #3 but I think it needs to be a totally different design than my other 2

I have had this scoop on my Hilborn injector for some years now, but I have not managed to find info about which make/model it is. Can anybody here help me on this?

The scoop is heavily modified to mount on the Hilborn 4-hole, and originally it will not fit Hilborn.

  19. It is a MOON scoop made for an Enderle Barndoor Injector and has been as you said modified to fit the Hilborn. Enderle made their own scoops that were smooth on the top and very few that had 15 Fins across the top. Old MOON catalogs show the 3 rib scoop such as you have. Post #91 above shows my 15 Fin Enderle unit

Thanks for your help!!! I love knowing my parts and their history, and this added for sure. I did´n even know that Moon made scoops, but now I know! There aren´t many of them from what I have found out. It' s very hard to find photos of them via google.

By the way: Do you also happen to know how old it can be???

I found out on the HAMB that this is an Enderle scoop.
It won't be easy to adapt to carbs, but I can do it.

I think these are the Manufactures that you are talking about. They were from Oklahoma.
