    I LOVE that photo!
    The fingers in the ears!
The photo cell lights on the front wheel!
And most of all, the perfect flames shooting out of the headers, especially the far side flames that back light the engine! Whoever tuned that fuel system knew how to do it.

Not to mention Steve Reyes magic touch with the camera adjustments.

I saw today that the Gatornationals (last weekend) was Steve's last event as a pro photographer. I have been lucky enough to have known him for some time as well as getting to work in his general vicinity while shooting at a number of events--the conversations during oil downs etc have been magic.

I believe you may be right. In the days of the short WB fuel altered it was easy to not run the wire that held the chute pack closed in far enough and … WHAMO, out came the laundry from the vibration.

When Super Pro bracket racing switched from quarter mile to eighth mile and my speeds were well under the 150 mph threshold point I took my 'chute out and replaced it with a block of foam for that reason.

Yep Junior Stock nailed it. It was part of their "act" when running the car. :)

I'm pretty sure I and others have posted shots of the feather duster before.

Actually it was not really an "act", just George "Stone Age Man" Hutcheson's trademark. The early Rat Trap was an ill handling beast and George was the first driver to manage to get it down the track. He did the same with the Turbine 1 dragster. The photo appears to have been take in the pits at Brooksfield Dragway, an 1/8 mile track that was just north of Adelaide, South Australia. Here is a shot of a slightly later version of the car at the same track

Aside from the classic photo of the Magic Muffler Fiat unloading all over the starting line this is my favorite Fuel Altered photo of all time. I have it in an 18x20 version on my shop wall. Don't know who shot it or who blew it up and mounted it, I got it at a swap meet years ago for $10. It may be a little "off" cause it was hard to get a picture without too much reflection.

This car was built by Roger Blood and Charlie Cavil (Blood Cavil Special) in a back alley garage in Alexandria, Virginia in 1961. They towed it all the way from Virginia to Pomona, California for the NHRA Winternationals and won the C/Altered class. Quite a long trip for two young guys back in the early 60's with very few Interstate Highways.
The word was that they were the only racers from east of the Mississippi to win anything at that event.
