An anus walks into a bar carrying a rim, puts it down and sits on it.
The bartender says "How about a stool?"

^^^^heres what $2700 gets you in front wheels.
Ten times as much dough for the same kind of go
Yes they look better, but ten times better?
Ten times better when who's paying?
Is someone going to look at my car ten times longer?

  5. Your car isn't a gasser. You could write 'C/ALT' on the side and no one would blink an eye….

But when someone says they want it to look 'right', then goddammit, make it look right. This ain't Street Rodder magazine.

Six decades ago in Boston there was a store named "Ellis the Rim Man", which sold primarily "wheels".

What do you mean it's not a gasser?

  8. My car above could not be considered or classed as a "gasser" for many reasons but without the fenders is the first obvious one.

I'm sure one of the photoshop wizards here on the HAMB can give you a couple different looks of different wheels on your truck. Might have to ask nicely though! I'm not talented in the art of photoshop. Joe

  12. Steel OEM style rears (I like 'em painted black). Wheelsmith will make practically any size and backspace you need.

    testdepth,

Don't let the bitching get you down - some people just like to get their undies in a twist. They are correct about the front "wheels" but they could find a better way of dealing with it, but whatever. That's their problem, not yours.

I like your truck. Those Studebaker trucks are sweet and yours looks like it's pretty tough. I used to have a '37 Coupe Express so I have an affinity for Stude trucks.

Yes Wheel Smith can build you a steel wheel that looks great without all the stupid extra lug pattern holes! Joe

Well, you say you have a 4.75" bolt pattern with 1/2" lug studs? That's a Chevy pattern with Ford sized studs, not a common wheel. Chevy had 7/16" studs as far as I know, so a stock wheel is out. You're going to need some kind of aftermarket wheel, probably an aluminum one. 15" x 10" and 15" x 12" show up used all the time on eBay, but they are proud of them. I figure somebody still makes wheels that wide, you'll just have to get their chart and see. Or you can keep and eye on eBay for some nice used ones, but get your pocketbook ready. All this interest in gasser clones has driven the prices up on the real vintage stuff.

iordered two rallye steel wheels by vintiques from jegs not so long ago.one had a beautiful weld the other had a crappy weld like it ran out of gas when it was being welded .was not impressed I would not be in a hurry to buy vintique again unless I could see the quality first.

I would have but it would have been cheaper from here to just order another from summit and have a spare wheel into the deal jegs said the weld didn't look as pretty as the other but strength wasn't compromised

Like the other day when I asked the waitress "how's the chili", she said it's real good, I just had some.
