Thought I'd share my fun bed idea with the HAMB! Wanted to do something a little different than the stock (bed strip) bed and this is the result! I have two boards utilizing the angle strips and then in between a lockable door to the under carriage. When you lift the handle, it reveals a hidden toolbox!
That's pretty cool, but in my case I'd need to move 50 pieces of crap to get it open. I need the Dutch door version..
Great idea ! If you are happy with the results then good on ya. It would look cool if you could of made it hidden. Make a door out of the original strip wood and spacers with hidden hinges and a recessed handle and lock. Would look more original with a place to store moonshine on runs! I like the idea.
You should either: make the hinges and handle hidden, or go full bore kook and make it look like an outhouse door, crescent moon and all. Go all in, or don't go at all.
I'd add another pair of hinges & another hasp so you don't have to walk clear around the truck to open it ….
Give Charles a break. It's functional and does what HE wants. What gets me is guys that buff up their stainless (or chrome) runners, and varnish the wood strips to death, and then wouldn't dare haul anything w/o moving pads at least. They sure look pretty at cruise nite tho.
Ok, that's actually genius. Thanks for the idea. https://www.google.com/search?q=out...hXmxVQKHZ5MAg8Q_AUoAXoECAoQAQ&biw=412&bih=691
I like that you are willing to try something different. And some of the responders do have good ideas to improve on it.
