New to the hotrod scene and wondering if anyone could tell me what’s the going price for a 32 complete hood with sides? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Since its not a V8 hood, it probably isn't worth any more than an A Model hood in my opinion. Maybe $200 more or less, depending on where you live.
They either came with 20 or 25 side louvers. Some folks will say that the 20 louver ones were for the B Model cars w/ 4 cylinders and the 25 were for the V-8 cars. I can't substantiate that though. Henry did some unexplainable stuff at times.
ALL early 32's came with the 20 louver hood. Later in the year, I believe around October , they started using 25 louver hoods on V8's to address the overheating problem. Since this was done near the end of production, the 25 louver hood is scarce and 2 to 3 times more valuable.
What are your plans, what are you looking at doing, buying or selling a hood? If selling purchasers will only pay what they think it's worth, if selling you'll want top dollar. As you see, some disparity.
A pair of original sides only sold on that Epay site recently for $550. Very nice original pair of sides. Your hood appears to be in decent shape (is it pitted? look like slight pitting) with the tops and no chrome strip. Missing 2 hold downs. I'd be a player at about $300 to $350. My OPINION. Remember you can hold it, examine it and not pay for shipping on this one, so....
I was looking to buy and I’m new so trying to get a feel for how much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can you get the rods to move in the sides, are all the tabs in good shape, no cracks or old repairs? If things don't move freely don't force things buy a can of Kroil and let things soak. Bob
It depends on how bad you need it and the length of time you have been looking also plays into how much you are willing to spend. And also the plans you have for it when you do aquire it.
I paid 350 for one a few years ago for one in really nice condition with free moving parts, painted. however no side latches or parts for them.
Rootlieb has brand new ready to paint for $630.00. No body work required. http://www.rootlieb.com/ford-1932-36-hoods.html
That's what I figured. $350 for a rusty hood, sandblast or dip, a little body work, new latches and epoxy primer and BAM! You're into it for $800-1000.
