Need some help from people with real world experience running a small cubic inch motor with a blower. I dropped of the motor at the machine shop last night to get freshened up the specs are going to be as follows 331 - 327+0.030 New pistons Stock rods reconditioned with ARP bolts Stock Crank Crank ,rods, and pistons will be rebalanced to 0 balance Stock 462 heads completely redone Howards blower cam CR with be Static 9.28:1 Dynamic will be 7.24:1 and with boost of 5psi about 9.57:1 Super T-10 Trans with Max 3.55 gear out back. car will weigh roughly 3000-3200lbs So do I top my 4-71 with one 750 or 850 or two 480,500,600,650's??? and why?? Already have the top plates for both and no carburetors.
2 carbs would look good but to some might look too much for a 4-71....Any choice would be a good one. I just have say this here since your the first one I've found after thinking if this....if anyone asks what is it? I'd say it's a 331 "stroker".. (302 with 1/4 arm)
Contact Gary Dyers (Dyers blowers), and ask his opinion. You won't get a wrong answer there. He' been in the biz a long time. Blowers do not like inlet restriction. Big is good! Let's see some pics!
If I could find an Original 2x4 intake for strombergs I might think about it. Wont put a milled or repoped one on it. That combo would be my go to 100% if it was a car from the 20-30's not sure if that's the right look for a 52 street rod.
I have a 177 Weiand Street Blower on top of my 400 SBC and ran a setup similar to this but I had Rochester carbs... I have since sold that setup with a 390 FE because it needed “something” and was a little roadster pickup with the engine exposed. I like the looks of two Carters on a 4-71, and on my 6-71 I have two 600 Holleys, in line. I like the cleaner look of the simple linkage and fuel lines as compared to sideways mounted Holleys.
I was thinking about running two Carter AFB 9605S which i understand are 600cfm, and would keep the vintage look.
