Technical What did you do today?

Well I was supposed to take the rad out again and drill some holes and weld some captured nuts
Surprise , I got side tracked
Well it could be seen as a good side track ?

Ya see there’s a 52 or maybe 53 flattie in the garage
Supposed to be a contingency plan for the 50 flattie in the 39
So yah the 52 is stuck,,,,, so every now and then I walk past it and, well I decide it is time for me to punish my self into trying to dismantle this thing again
( numerous attempts in the past )
So last night I made a poor mans pickle fork , and ( might just paint it ) it worked !
So after the second day I was able to get all the valves out and all the assorted other parts that are in there
yup it’s been a adventure
This is my very first flattie tear down ,, and
Thinking back this thing was born 2 yrs before me .......
I love this hobby and the slower I get the more I enjoy it

This is my first post to this thread. I guess I never paid that much attention to it before. Wow you guys do a lot of stuff!

Anyway since I finished The Judge a few months ago I decided that it was reasonable to build her a permanent residence since the tent that I built her in has kind of fallen apart.

Started the project last October and been working on it nearly every day single-handedly --buying materials off of Craigslist and Home Depot and Lowe's.

Never built a structure before but YouTube comes in very handy as you guys know.

You have a point. I guess I will add some walls to this floor and put the metal on top of the walls! Thanks for the heads up!

 

Brake assembles installed, axles in, all plumbed and ready to install. Then on to hanging front sheetmetal on this Unibody. Should be able to try to fire the engine in the next couple weeks......

 

Fit the hood on my 31 A Delivery.

 

Took my first spring apart .

 

...hauled this 47 Ford tire store truck from one friends house to another,..neat service bed on it, California truck,...maybe now it'll get back on the road,...I hauled to the first friends place 30 years ago...

 

Buffed the truck with swirl remover and gave it 2 coats of Collinite 845, then I cleaned the glass and chrome. There was enough time to clear the work bench too. It was a good day...

 

Sunny day and low 50’s in the Green Bay area today, so I changed the oil in the truck. Then Mrs Moon and I went for a drive. Funny how many of these aimless wanderings about end up involving ice cream....

 

I'll be at the basement shelf rearranging and parts organizing for a few more days. No work on the car projects in weeks, it feels good. Bob

 

Max and I went on a tour of Central Iowa. Met a good man named Denny and picked up a 3sp/OD trans and wheelbarrow full of parts from him. Then we headed over and spent a couple hours on a shop tour and bench racing with Corn Fed in the middle of the state......was a great day!

Got a trunkload of goodies......And no, the Sweettarts are NOT for sale!

 

Thanks to code enforcement I had to move the Galaxie off the driveway into the back yard. Never mind that it just broke into decent working conditions outside finally. I'd like to know how a guy in a pickup truck driving through the neighborhood can determine if a car is "functional " from his driver's seat. (They are not allowed to trespass on your property without permission)

 

View attachment 4230797 Went to Joplin to see our Cleavor. Couldn’t get the starter on due to The aftermarket oil pan. So we didn’t get to hear it run.

Alan , here the one I made about twenty years ago. I built it long enough to put a tractor inline with it , so I could easily split them for clutch jobs. Came in mighty handy many times. Two movable hoist and two fixed hoist. one is air operated.

Detailed inside of the truck and made templates for some trim pieces to finish off around the door latches.

 

Killed some bugs for the 1st time this year.
Really stood on it once, felt damn good.

 

Fired up the little pink Lark this morning and went to the Tru line show in Santee with my bud Butch, he drove his blown 41 Willys. I'm not much of a car show guy but its fun to see peoples expressions when they hear the lark and then look under the hood Somehow they don't expect a patina'd pink 59 Stude with poverty caps and a radical solid cammed 327 and fenderwell headers + 4spd. Good day in my book...

 

Pulled the transmission in my 50 Chev so I can replace the clutch. Also putting in a power glide torque tube.

Cleaned up my finned coil. Looking for a picture of a nice tag to copy to fix mine.

 

Went to Island Dragway with my OT car. Ran a couple of 14.06's in the fall. Goal was to get a 13.99 or better. Bumped the timing, changed the shift points, put good fuel in it and dumped a good dose of Torco octane booster in it.
1st run - actually went backwards - 14.65 et too much timing and mph had no power

Reset the timing back to where I had it and also the shift points.

Second run (if it didn't get back down to the low 14's I was going home)

2nd run 14.000 et. Now that's messing with me. Now I have to stay and try one more time for the 13 second run.

3th run, pushed the converter a little harder - .018 reaction and a 13.889 et. Got it.

Now it's time to get the 57's newly worked 650 double pumper on it and lower that et as well.

Fired up the o/t driver after a long winter, after I changed the starter that worked perfectly fine in the fall but some how quit working sitting for the winter.

Got the engine straight finally.

 

I spent way to long cleaning up these backing plates, wish my wiring in the garage was a little heavier so I could get another blasting cabinet.
Almost have all the parts in, just waiting on the drums, which will need to be redrilled to 4 3/4, I ordered a drill guide to redrill the axles but that won't work because of the access hole for the retaining plate bolts. So this will be the most expensive shop truck rear end ever..ha ha ha

 

Trimmed my spindles...

 

Axle assembly was installed today. All plumbed and e-brake hooked up but not adjusted.

 

Got the door panels painted.

 

The Unibody is back down on all four again.....started cleaning hood hinges today, getting things ready for front sheetmetal assembly.

 

Made new covers for the armrests that are going in the 37,will have to take them to work to staple on since my staple gun needs rebuilt.

 

Flipped the rotors on a blower so I could see what this Weiand cover looked like on it.
