Pinstriper Yosemite Sam lost his battle with cancer yesterday. He was a big deal around here in the 70’s and was a hell of a Striper and painter...RIP Sam
Never met him personally but remember seeing his work in the Detroit area in the 70’s. My condolences to his family & friends. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Sorry to hear this. He really was a hell of a striper. His 'late-model' LTD was one of the neater ones out there. Condolences to his family.
Condolences to the Radoff family and friends on the passing of Sam... Thanks for sharing this loss to the community @loveoftiki. Regards, Stogy
May he rest in peace. I never met the man but back in the 70's if you saw a photo spread of a rod or custom from that area there was more often than not a notation that he had done the striping on it.
No problem..he was a friend of my old pal Gator and they both did their fair share of painting and striping bitd... Sam also started the Pinstripe Charity at the Autorama many years ago and raised thousands of dollars for charity.
So sorry to hear. I always dug his wild Galaxie, and thought it was kool that he used to give awards at KKOA shows way back when. He was one of the greats! My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Vaya con Dios Mr. Radoff..........E
Nuts. Sam built some really wild model cars too. I mean way out there, in a really cool way. I wish I had pics.
I interviewed him for a Canadian magazine that is now defunct. He lived near Chatham Ontario. Very nice guy who never truly got the recognition he deserved.
Was sad to hear of Sam's passing. I was fortunate to get to know him in the past several years. He shared many stories with me from his days in the shop in Detroit. Here are the Sorry Charlie 1923 T Bucket and the 1977 Ridler winning 1923 Frigid T that Sam painted/airbrushed. Sam with his car, some of the amazing models he created, mostly in 1/25-1/18 scale in diecast and resin/plastic. A dash Sam painted and striped.
