June it is Dave, guess I'm getting old. Your next project looks like fun, and it won't take up to much space. What powers the little roadster?. My two kids say no grand-kids, I said that too. Time will tell. Although they both told me they wouldn't let their kids ride in my coupe, no airbags, etc. When I was young we didn't have seat belts, played squishy in the back seat on tight turns! Times have changed. Looks like I will finally get the coupe in my new garage some time next month. Can't wait!!! ( I need a break from house building!!)

It’s powered by a electric motor from a mobility scooter. Will be good to see you back on your project. I’m getting seriously behind on all the jobs I need to do, the coup is going to the trim shop next Monday. I have a couple of days of work this week so hopefully will get it finished in time. I hope to get lots of updates from the trimmers as work progresses. Cool body time traveller keep us posted on your project

IMG_2329.JPG IMG_2330.JPG Finally getting back to the coupe. I was installing the 350, decided to joggle the Hurst style engine mount. Took some measurements and bent up the cross plate, added a gusset and welded it up. Now I can run a stock pump and stock style solid fuel line. Any comments would be appreciated, good or bad!

Great to see you back on your project, very nice work on the engine mount.

I managed to get the coup in to the trim shop on Monday as planned but only just made it, thrashed on it all weekend, 3 hours sleep Sunday night, 3 hour drive There and a 3 hour train journey home. Selected the leather, carpet and headliner. Chris the trimmer does fantastic work with many of the cars he’s worked being featured in magazines in the U.K.

I'm sure it will be worth the hassle! Like the instagram, didn't realize you had a roll cage (scaffolding?). Definitely will need some pics! What color/colors are you having installed? I am assuming black? I am starting to work on my parking brake. Want to get it working before the coupe takes an unscheduled trip down my driveway and into a 100 year old fir tree! Sure feels good to be thinking about something other than the house!!!

I was originally going for black but and now going with this, “distressed” brown leather

  8. Did you "joggle" both sides of the motor mount, so that it's symmetrical on the frame?

Yeah, my OCD made me do it!! Seriously, the joggle on the drivers side really helped with the steering box clearances. IMG_2331.JPG

Very nice, I can't wait to get to that stage!! I spend much of my time working on the house, and soon the weather will get nice, and I will still be working on the house! Must find some garage time!!!

Very nice work! I'm assuming your using a biscuit-style mount. If so, maybe weld on a round plate the diameter of the round pad on top of the biscuit for an even more custom look (flatty style).

I like that idea!! It will look a lot like an AMT 32 Ford kit from the 60's

Looking good! Is that a Borgeson steering box? I managed to get an unused one on UK eBay and next job to do when it comes back from the trim shop is to swap out the Unisteer rack for the steering box. Gave it a lick of paint while I was painting the roll cage brackets.

IMG_2284.JPG Looks great, wish I could sew that straight! Might actually get to work on my coupe next week!!! I had no idea how much work goes into a house!! We are installing hard wood floors. Back to the coupe, it has been pointed out to me that I have an issue with scrub radius, king pin line meets the road just in side the tire! Looks like different wheels are the cure. Some guys say a little positive scrub won’t hurt. Not sure yet where I will go from here. Any ideas?

Thanks, I’m very pleased with Chris’ work it is top quality.

It never ends, we converted a bungalow in to a 3 storey house about 9 years ago and still not finished! It would be such a shame to cover the drums, you can’t beat that front end view but I guess safety comes first

Think I will get her going and see how it feels. Maybe play with toe in and caster, even tire pressure could affect the feel! I found a few articles that say positive scrub radius isn’t too bad, guess I will find out for myself! For now the drums stay!!!

  24. Lots of cars are running around like that. I wouldn't worry about it, it's a Hotrod, not a new Cadillac.
