Total shame what this country did to the proud Cherokee Nation. Sad stain on the character of the United States of America.
My old late friend Bob Smith, a native Cherokee Indian who who lived in Cherokee,N.C. was a ardent hot rod guy and was the past President of the Cherokee Rodders, he also managed a couple of dirt tracks in the area. Bob was blessed with the gift of gab and enjoyed his part as emcee at the car shows the club hosted, he loved asking people how they enjoyed the show and did anyone loose money at the casino? He would then say that was the white mans trail of tears. I miss Bob, he was a big man with a even bigger smile, he was a Veteran and a hot rodder through & through. HRP
I live a few miles from Tahlequah in the Cherokee nation just outside Muskogee, Ok. I grew up on our ranch in the Muscogee (Creek) nation. My great grandfather built a house there in 1904, 3 years before statehood. I have some sheet metal on a barn that has a shipping address “ Oktaha IT “, that’s Indian Territory. Bones
i have to say that it was a shame what this country did and we must remember it so it doesn't happen again.....but i also have to say that ALL my ancestors came over in the late 1800's and they had nothing to do with it. they came over from the old county because things were not going to well there too. i think my people were being discriminated against and if this county is so bad why are so many people trying to get in? i'm sure the past history of their own countries is much better than ours and has a lot more to offer
