Technical 1934 Ford Floorpan

Anyone have any experience using Howells 4 piece stock floorpans? Is there a better choice for fit and finish? I've used Don Smart's floors in the past and while they were excellent, I don't want to wait for a year to get a floor like I did in the past. Anyone have any suggestions/ opinions?

 

Don't think you will be happy with Howells pans. They need a lot of tweaking to fit and look good.

Paul Bradley is said to make the best early Ford floor pans, but his customer service is virtually non-existent. http://bradleyfloorpans.com/

 

PM Genes Hot Rod Shop (he posts in the classifieds). He is the original builder of my 1934 sedan, and he used some aftermarket floor panels that look and fit really well. He can possibly tell you what manufacturer he used, if he can remember that far back.

Anyone use a floor from Tom Bay? How's the fit and how was his delivery time? Does he stamp his own or does he market someone else's?

 

Jesse Coots in New York has started making 34 floors and subrails. I've seen him post on Instagram.

 

Are they stock floors or more like the ones that just follow the sub rails?

 

I hve been using Tom Bay's panel for years.
Never a problem with price, delivery, or fit.
You won't find a better guy to deal with.

I used the Howells floor pan on my 5W but I bought the assembled one piece floor. Had some issues with over billing on the agreed price, but got it worked out after a hostage crisis. I put a stop payment on my charge card and that created an overflow of customer service - go figure.

Here is what it looked like going together. I thought it was good quality and required very little adjustment as my body was missing the bottom 8 inches when I started. Delivery was as claimed, and I would recommend using them but go with caution.

 

I like that.

 

Tom Bay makes all the parts everyione sells as their own.

I think at the end of the day the entire floor adventure cost me $2200 shipped to my door. I opted for the "stock" configuration rather than the "street rod" version as it was cheaper. My 2 cents.....

 

There was a complete, no rot 34 floor pan in the swap at the NSRA Knoxville meet last weekend.
Should have bought it, since it was marked $75.00 !!!!!
Planned on going back with my truck, but got sick Friday.
Somebody probably scarfed it up!
