  6. thanks guys. Charlie is working really hard and when we are done fixing the body up, he wants to just touch up the paint for now and concentrate on the chassis work. he is undecided on wether to use the banger engine or he has a line on an affordable flat head.
he also picked up a set of 2dr sills from a friend for free, a windshield frame he had in his stash and I gave him a chevy dash [to ad a little class]. IMG_4668.JPG IMG_4676.JPG

  7. Stopped over yesterday to check out the work! Charlie was gone already. But it is looking better.:p Took my coupe out for the first time in 2019, now that the salt has been washed of the roads.

You really ought to buy a porta power.:)

  9. hah, I have 3....they all leak. I have bought porto powers, new, used and refurbished, I have borrowed, they all f'k'n leak and I go back to the mechanical jacks. always work at a fraction of the cost.

  10. I'm with you, if they don't leak about the time you get one where you want it to stay it leaks off while your working the panel. Scissor jacks rule. Nice work fellows. It's coming along nicely.

  11. thanks. the one place that it going to take a lot of work is the spot that was beat with the sledge [surprise, surprise]. it is really stretched out. IMG_4673.JPG you can see the sledge dents /stretch .

  12. we didn't work on it today but Charlie went to get measurements off of a friends pickup. I made up a diagram and he filled in the measurements, or at least the ones he could get. IMG_4689.JPG IMG_4690.JPG dark green is the back of the cab, light green the cowl.

I really appreciate you taking the time to post pictures of your methods. I’m a visual person and it helps to be able to see how things like this can be conquered. I’m watching and learning. Great work.

Great effort! the 30-31 cabs are very good looking when done right, i wanted to be very moderate with mine, only 2".
It was close to as bad as yours when i started mine, the oil canning issue in the back wall was a major hassle, the body and paint guy took the body even further and did a fantastic job.
A smart thing i did was welding the roof to the A pillars and across the back, it made the body very stiff and solid. 20180815_102723.jpg

Great thread and the work you have completed. Good old yankee ingenuity in play here.

  22. woo hoo. that is so much better than the banger. now we just have to get him to decide on if/how much of a chop. Mark wants 6", Charlie is thinking of not chopping it, I would like to see 3".

It's a fine addition to Ridgefield, wish I had a camera when it was stopped at the light in front of the Huge American flag at Town Hall last summer. Bob

I'm with you on the three-inch chop. It will look modified, but proportional.
