59 f100 and a 57 dodge truck push button auto both were bought cheap. Got my money out of the ford. The dodge I traded for a 74 nova yes I 74 nova what was I thinking. I kick my self,in the ass everytime I look at the one picture I have of the truck

 

1956 Chevrolet 150 2-door post. Primer black with a locked-up 2x4bbl 265 and three on the tree. My first car bought from Billy Peoples' used car lot in Rockwall TX in 1962.

Since I sold three hot rods/cruisers, I would be remiss in leaving one on the list without offending the others. My first real, purchased hot rod was the Flathead powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery during high school. It was bone stock, except that, when I first saw it, it had a powerful 348 Chevy motor in it. But, my savings account could not afford that 348 powered sedan delivery. So, the previous owner made a motor swap, lowered the cost, and my meager bank account was drained.
I was already the main driver of our (my) 1958 black Impala, but needed another vehicle for our So Cal surfing adventures. So, number two would be saving the 58 black 348 powered Impala that I got from my brother and sold in 1965.

From the stock 348/280 hp to the addition of the C&O Stick Hydro to the Racer Brown Cam/kit and other go fast stuff… made it a car to definitely remember. My brother owned it first, then, he sold it to me in 1960.

Finally, when we were twenty somethings, our last hot rod was another red, 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. But, this time, it had a 327 +auto + A/C that made cruising comfortable and complete. There was enough power to go up and down those steep Coast Highway grades and the car had the feel of an SBC V8 power. Now, it was the journey AND the destination…!

I also owned a 1965 El Camino, that put on 125k miles of fun road trips and adventures from new. But, the black 58 Impala sandwiched between the two 1940 Ford Sedan Deliveries just fit the bill, then and now. So, the two 40 Ford Sedan Deliveries and a black 58 Impala would be the choices to resurrect and keep. Those (in addition to the 65 El Camino) have enough memories to last a lifetime for the two of us.

OK, (not to be greedy), if it is only to be the “car,” (singular, from the topic) it would have to be the first 40 Ford Sedan Delivery, but with the 348 motor in it, not the flathead. That was a first to be built with high performance 348 motor and be seen in the Bixby Knolls hot rod scene. (a fast vehicle for the streets, the drags, and travels to all sorts of surfing spots in So Cal.)

 

I love my 50 Monarch Coupe that I have now, but would have loved to have my 36 Ford 3-W back, as well as my 49 Meteor Coupe.

The '49 Merc is the one I would most like to have back but I would also like to know what became of my '57 Olds I sold around 2003.

I never had room to keep them. Had to let one go to make room for the next project.

My '48 Henway...Never did put it on the scale.
