We lost a very talented Central California Pin Striper "Neil Averill", due to health complications this past weekend. He was a huge talent, and his art was all over the Fresno and Central Valley for decades. Neil's work has been seen all over the country and world, in the 1970's he designed the Tyrone Malone Diesel Racing Trucks that toured the World, several bikes that graced the pages of Easy Rider and Chopper Magazines. In the 1980's his work was on several show cars, drag cars, and street rods that graced the pages of many magazines, shown in the Fresno Autorama, and just about every show in the nation. I met Neil several years ago through my cousin Ruben another long time central valley pin striper in the Visalia area, the two had a long friendship, we always thought of Neil as a trendsetter and always raising the bar with the fine-lines and the popular 1/4 line that has been called the Fresno Stripe by everyone outside of the Valley strongly because of Averill. He will certainly be missed by myself and Ruben , and I will and I'm sure local Fresno Hamber's will keep everyone posted on a celebration of his life, and how we can all help.
Sad to hear this . Although I never had the good fortune to meet him , I've always liked the style of pinstriping that he became known for . A good craftsman and talented striper . RIP
