late 30s chevy is likely, but I don't have any to measure...

  6. 37 &38 Chevy cars didn't use this type of support, they were built into the grille shell,..
    it's also not a 39 or 40 Chevy truck,...so I'm still thinkin 39-41 Chev car...or could be 41-6 truck...here's a 38 car grille shell..

I have a 39 car support, I’ll try to get out to the shop later to measure it. Is this a piece you’re trying to sell?

The one you have @rusty1 is not from a 39 Chevy car, here’s pictures of the original one I removed from my sedan. The shape is different, the top portion is narrower so it dog legs above the cross support. Overall dimensions are 31 1/4” H, 19 3/4” W at bottom and 19 1/4” W at top

That looks similar to '40 - '41 Chevrolet passenger car to me, but that hole on the outer edge/bottom shouldn't be there. Telling factor is the hole spacing below the crossbar, that's where inner fenders attach, and spacing is different between the two years. As mentioned, might be '41 - '46 Chevrolet truck.

Wait a minute, I was looking at the wrong picture regarding my comment about hole on bottom.
I'm thinking '40 - '41 passenger car, as mentioned, the hole spacings along the sides determine which year due to inner fender panels.

  12. ...a couple years ago I sold this to a guy wanting a 40 core support, he sent it back saying it was not for a 40,...(I got it with a bunch of other 40 parts so I assumed it was a 40 )
...recently a HAMBer needed a 39 core support so I sent this info to him but never heard back.
I would sell it if I can get a n I.D. on it
thanks for all the info so far...

  13. it's a nice one.....bump up......
