Anyone coming out for the first time?

Discussion in 'The 2024 Lone Star Round Up' started by RoadFarmer, Apr 2, 2017.

  1. My 8 year old son is coming with me this year. It will be his first roundup. He's been asking me questions about what we'll be doing there for the last few weeks. He just showed me this check list for the next week. Pretty cool he's so excited.

Sounds like he'll have a great time! Bet if he plays his cards right and asks he'll get some behind the wheel time in a lot of cars. Bob

  8. Awesome RoadFramer! I will be taking my 12 yr old son for the first time as well, I am hoping that he enjoys it, you see my son is Autistic and is only interested in (Monster Trucks); however he told me a week ago to my surprise that he was ready for Round Up! and yes asking a lot of questions everyday LOL. I am super excited!

Hey Roadfarmer: Me and my wife and littlest will be at the BBQ in my '55 Buick (avatar pic) if your son wants to hop in and take a look around it'd be our pleasure. My name's Jeff come over and say hello.

Hey there seadog. We talked several months ago (I think). Just wondering if you are going to make the Bayou Roundup in Lafayette Sept. 29-Oct. 1. It will be my first time for this one, but it is supposed to be an extension of the Austin Roundup which is the best Texas has to offer IMHO. Hope to see you there. Your rod is outstanding. Love those wheels. Look for a very similar Deuce that is a bit lighter red displaying a '32 plate. Gary and Joyce

This will be our 4th visit from down under , a great buddy MG was kind enough to loan us a 58 one year and this year we get to bring our old jalopy 32 (hopefully as long as the Viagra we will feed it holds out)

My boys first one was when they were 2&5. The younger one made a chain of hot wheels when we got back. He said it was all the cars going to lonestar. It will be their 6th time. My younger one is 8 too we’ll have to meet up.

Awesome. He forgot "swim" on Friday and Saturday.

My son and I are flying in from KC on Thursday and staying through Saturday. It's our first trip to Austin, to the LSRU, and his first airplane ride. We rented a plastic car, but it'll be a convertible... his first.

We are really looking forward to the long weekend, just us guys, doing the car show thing, and jamming as much Austin culture in as we can.

Edit: I forgot to mention... my son is 12.

  26. I'm all signed up to be a seller in the swap meet area. Sadly, that will keep me too busy to walkabout very much. I'm local, within an hour and a half of the LSRU, but I won't be bringing my '50 Chevy truck because I still have to knock off a bit more street (as in Street Rod) and replace it with some more hot (as in Hot Rod) and some class (as in Classic) while I cuss (as in Custom).
All the HAMBsters who drop by get discounts and a new oil rag to use as a pocket hanger at the show, just for shaking my hand and saying "Howdy".

    Not the first time-
Since I'm local I usually do a day wih kids and a day without.
Always bring plenty of cold drinks and snacks for them, the fun can wear off quickly if they run low on fuel.
Give them an old phone and encourage them to take pics; stop by my 59 Mercury and they can sit behind the wheel. 20190406_144410.jpg
