Hello Fellow HAMB'rs! For those with experience with the pre war and art deco Chevy trucks; I need your expert help. I am building a 1946 Chevy custom truck and need a long bed; I have not been able to find a 41-46 Chevy long bed but did find a very nice 1939 Chevy Truck Long bed, If any of you own any of the two, Can someone be kind enough to take some measurements of your bed ? I tried contacting some aftermarket manufacturers of beds but have not gotten a response as of yet. I will need dimensions for comparisons (photos will be awesome!) also, do the 41-46 Chevy rear fenders bolt on to the 1939 Chevy Long Bed truck? I thank you in advance for your help and time and hoping to hear from you soon! THANK YOU!!
The 39 bed is 3 inches narrower than the 40-46 beds I believe. The fenders are wider on the 39 than the 40-46s to make up for the bed width. I do not have a long box, just the frame and cab for one, short boxes on 40-46 trucks are 48" wide and 80" long. I believe the width is the same and the length is about 18" longer on a long box.
I believe the bed sides are the same from late 30's to early 50's. GMC had a bed 41-46 that was 108 long.
