Can you move the spring pocket to the bottom of the lower A frame?

Try Fat Man. They make a lot of lowered spindles for older cars.

OK, not as traditional, and more work, but I used a Seville front clip, got the stance I wanted, disc brakes, power steering, and rides great, FWIW.

Southerncad has the best idea.. I have done the same with my 41 & 49 Cad's... give's disk brakes and power steering and more room in engine bay as the steering box is foward of the chassis frame ....also I found 2"dropped spindals to suit the application

Sorry , I don't have any pics, did the clip about 20 years ago and still happy with it. The front clip from a '77 Seville is the perfect width for the '49, and it comes with all the goodies you want. I also kept the Cad/Olds 350 and Turbo 400 that came in the Seville. Check the measurements and you will see what I mean.

The 70's Seville clip and subframe are similar or same as the 70s Camaro/Nova clip....thus the easy fit.
