It appears to be a 1937 (first year for Plymouth trucks ) I have a 1938 Plymouth pick up that I've owned for 21 years now.
Thats a big IF. Around my small ass county its one of 3 things: I wanna save it for later I will sell for x amount which is some out of this world figure only a idiot would pay. Or my least favorite but has happened They save it and wont sell it till one day scrap comes up and boom gone. So buying older stuff car wise is a gamble in my area. Now because i love this form so much and i love all the stories, advice, comments or just humor me. Say i got..... Blessed enough to take on such a mighty task.... Besides paint, and motor ( because anyone would put in a V8 ). What frame would you swap in what would you do to this plymouth. Now dont think of me as a punk ass 23 year old. I am in awe of guys who restore stuff, that kinda of dedication isnt around anymore. But i also love rats and resto and hot rods. Everyone on here is going to tell you to save the original frame if you can. Nothing wrong with it unless it's more rust than metal. Even then, are Plymouth passenger car frames of those years the same?
If that engine turns and is saveable, you can also hop it up, no need to swap for a dull SBC. Plenty of goodies available for the MoPar L-head six around. E.g. Langdon's & Edgy Edgerton sells hop up parts for those; hi-comp heads, cams, twin intakes & exhaust manifolds... The suspension of 30's Mopars were much better to e.g. Ford of same era. Very driveable. Thus you can also do it HAMB-friendly, period correct to 50's rodding...
BLUE, where are you from? I think you got your answer as the year. This is not a thread hijack, but I hope I can help. Thats a very cool, and rare pickup. If you truly love it. { GET IT ! } At only 23 you have lots of time on your side. With the HAMB, great friends, and $ dollars, over a period of time, you can build it. The three most important things are, { first is the WANT TOO ! 2nd is patience, and 3rd is to NEVER GIVE UP} Here's a photo of a old Dodge that was said, could never be bought! A 23 year old did buy it, and had a lifetime of fun with it. You can drive it unfinished. That doesn't mean it's a rat r. Good luck, and keep us posted. Thanks Ron......
I just had the exhaust finished yesterday on my 46 Olds and there was a similar 37ish chopped Dodge PU having tube headers made. I haven't got any photos but know it will be blown 392 hemi powered when finished. A MOPAR in a MOPAR.
Put whatever engine in that spins your wheels, so to say......as long as it gets saved it's a win. But please no frame swaps!
The best frame is the one that is in it. If you want to be different a Chrysler flathead six of up to 265 cu in is practically a bolt in and can give decent HP. If you want a V8 a Chev 350 is probably easiest. The problem is steering box is in the road but the engine can be offset to the right an inch or 2. The Chev may not need to be offset with a mini starter and the right exhaust manifold.

Not sure what PA is like but in Wisconsin, a title is a really big deal. That'll make a big difference on price. I'm with Squirrel, if it's just what you can see there, no title, and a bunch of rust underneath that isn't obvious, $500 low end. If it turns out to be with a title, and "hood is in the barn along with a good grille and extra blah-blah-blah", it might be worth up to $2K.
