Maybe if I put this here it won't take so long to remember how to do it next time.
Gonna write this down here so next time it won't take a bunch of youtube videos to teach me how to do this again -

    1. Set the wheel to TDC
    2. Pop the cam gear off
    3. Read the cam card and find the intake opening at .050 number
    4. Rotate the cam to the Intake Open Before Top Dead center 2 .050 (use the black numbers for this step)
    5. Rotate the crank to the number - 33
    6. Spin the cam gear until you find a set of holes that line up (Milodon gears have a LOT of adjustability )
    7. Now we can check the Intake Centerline - white numbers
    8. The white numbers are using the nose of the cam. So locate the .050 reading before the cam nose and the .050 after the nose. Write down the two numbers. Add the two numbers together and divide by 2. It should read the Intake Centerline on the cam card (110 degrees)
    9. Loctite all the cam bolts

Next the rocker stands get fitted with an oil restrictor. The hemi heads don't drain very fast so allowing unlimited oil into the valve covers can do bad things.

Nick Smithberg sent set screws with an .060 hole. The stands need tapped to fit the restrictor.

Then on to gasket fitting. The intake valves are way over the factory size so the gaskets need a notch.

Next is the clay check to see if the valves clear everything. Put WD40 in the head or the clay will get stuck in all the wrong places ……

Then move on to spraying Hylomar on the copper gaskets.

Last step torque it all to 110 foot pounds.

  2. I've been drilling the oil drain hole in the block and in the heads to 3/8"

  7. After dealing with 3 races with the rev limiter set too low last year and the water getting in the MSD box, decided to get the Vertex mag re-done. After the rebuild and new coil it should be kicking a decent spark.

  8. For a vertex mag that a lot of power. I like the tach drive base. Those are hard to find.

I don't see any specs. for output @ cranking speeds, or for that matter, at wht rpm the figures they have are taken from.
Maybe you should consider one of those 16V battery setups like the nirous door slammers use, if allowed. Would spin the engine faster.

  11. They have a coil and mag upgrade option and since it was already on the West Coast, why not get the works! The base was actually from a SBC mag and it was moved over to that Hemi base. The bad thing about it is the big hold down clamp won't fit. Last time I ran this, it used one of those big mag ring braces which was tight to the injection. We'll figure something out …..

It says @2500 RPM up in the yellow box. The slow cranking from a couple years back was fixed with a giant Powermaster starter for mountain motors - forget which one right now - it spun fast all year, but if we start making rounds (one of these years) it would be good to have a 16v. Still thinking on that. Trying to remove the alternator this year. The fan was a 20amp and I found an 8amp. The water pump is about 4amps. Its really the fan that was killing the battery between rounds.

Discovery channel asked us to come back to the track to re-shoot some pick up scenes - something they use to tie the scenes together after the rough draft- so I’m told. This was January and I didn’t have cast on my foot anymore. They asked can you get recasted? Well it just so happens that my orthopedic guy is a racecar nut. So Ronnie came over and made a new cast.

    HOT NEWS FROM HOT WHEELS!!!
Just a few short months ago Mattel, Inc. contacted us to join in the efforts of their Hot Wheels DragStrip Demon series. The list of future possibilities are endless, but it begins with the SEGA logo on select Hot Wheels and packaging. Like any major project, it takes a lot of patience and time, but the contract is signed and we’re excited to see some finished products. It’s just another opportunity for many of us to rekindle those great childhood memories, as that iconic flamed logo begins to appear during the 2019 SEGA Season. #southeastgassers #hotwheels

  24. Not sure where this will go yet. It would be cool to make a whole set of SEG cars but they didn't say they are going to do that yet - they licensed the logo. Hope they build a complete set - only about 100 cars to collect if that's the case.

Tony, you don't need to do all that work on the head gasket. My motor's the same as yours, it has Nicks hot heads and needs the boar to be notched. I brought a gasket into Clark and he made a pattern that has the valve notch and eliminates all the holes that are not needed with the hotheads. Next time ask him about it. Good luck this year in your racing!

  26. Interesting. I've ordered a bunch of gaskets from them but we never got into the details of the heads. @402BOSSMAN is working with SCE to get notched gaskets designed now.

Well they call it testing for a reason right?

  29. Just got off the phone with Johnny and the crank polished up fine. He’s fitting bearings this time just in case. We had over 100 psi of oil pressure last year and I changed the bypass spring to drop it to 80. Going back to 100psi and it should be back in the car this weekend.

If you saw the discovery channel show, I cut the foot hook off on the gas pedal so my cast on my broken foot would fit. Well the throttle stuck open and I used the hand control to shut it off. Probably was a little too slow on the shutoff. New pedal is getting installed. And a rev limiter.
