Hey, could anyone tell me what those "winged" hubcaps are called or from, and which rims they fit??
They are really cool, but my googeling brought me no answers...

    Thank you!
I'm new here, passing time browsing while i wait for an older guy to get back from his vacation. He owns a -29 Tudor, which he promised to have a decision on whether i get to buy or not when he returns.... Exciting... :)

A4107675-92FC-47E6-9E8D-E469DFB59C71.jpeg A more recent pic- alum. Winfield head, combustion chambers were wonky. Welded/shaped so gasket had something to seal against. About 8.5:1, runs strong but very sensitive to octane... Pete1 ground me a 1007b cam. I smoothed/enlarged oil pump inlet and outlet, turned down the shaft etc.. , light flywheel/v8 clutch. Harmonic damper from Murray down south. Drove it a bunch this summer. Has race pipe for HRHC in this photo, good for additional .76 hp...

Many great ones already from this thread. I have a couple B motors, Winfield head, lions speed head, and Winfield up and down draft carbs, plus Charlie yap exhaust, so deciding what to run and cam questions. Thanks guys for al the pics.

Sounds like a fun build with nice parts. Cool to have them being used.

18555BB0-B683-44E7-8F5D-ABD7F8DE7FE1.jpeg Stipe cam, Brierley head, using the Burns intake carb setup from my roadster for now. Runs really good. Had to change out the old honeycomb rad. Drive it about every day. Next step is Cling's adapter'39 trans. and Lower it slightly...

Out of curiosity, how much can you get out of these motors as far as HP once all the speed goodies are on? Is it expensive? Thinking of doing the same thing to mine...

I’m guessing that I bumped mine up 50% to 60 HP, so totally worth it.

Stock ....half the number of cylinders as a flathead V8, almost the same cubes, less than half the horsepower . Hopped up, NOTHING beats a Model A across the intersection, and it's twice as hard to find the same horsepower and twice the price to get there. BUT a max effort Model A or B banger can deliver the goods in spades..
    Check this out
Paul Gommi v8 vs Joe Rodriguez banger ,
Roadster grudge race one blown flathead, one worked naturally aspirated Banger , two fastest in their classes on the day, who's the winner?

Do you know what transmission he runs? There was some smooth shifting going on there.

his post seems to have disappeared but.. here goes

Joe is on HAMB 530 Sandman...... from one of his own posts in the monthly Banger thread, just before he ran at the 17 RPM Nats (video).

"It's a Diamond B with a Cragar 4 port cross flow head, dual 97's, long tubed headers (Full oil pressure) and a 39 trans. an early 201/V8 Halibrand, Culver City Ca. QC rear end. closed/torque tube! (Too much to list!)"

97, thanks. I deleted that post almost as fast as I posted it after watching the video again. I turned up the sound and could hear his shifts better and could tell it wasn't a T5. I spotted the quick change on the line. Is the Diamond block the aftermarket one with 5 mains......? Whatever it is sweet! Joey needs to hear it. :D Also see it smoke a v8.

Yeah I posted that video on Joey's thread and I had a bit of a brain fart and posted it a second time a few pages later .
Joe Rodriguez @530sandman hasn't been seen on the HAMB for over a year now, he used to post regularly on the Banger thread, which by the way is not only for Ford bangers( nod nod wink wink! ) but I see going by his profile that he now lives in Northern California...... He was building a 34 coupe that is probably taking up his time I guess.

Diamond block is a Ford replacement block built into the later 30s or early 40s , said to be stronger and thicker deck or something like that, never seen one in NZ...
The 5 mains blocks are all aftermarket, until now I think only made by engine builders like HAL for themselves, Now Todd Buttimore is making them, has just got a few test blocks out recently. Only other way I know is a girdle bolted to the bottom of the block with two ghost mains.

A bit going on here, a diamond B block , Serr head milled some to raise compression to a useable level, with an original cragar cover. Willys jeep rear main seal, 440 Chrysler oil pressure relief and filter , full pressure oil system, chev 348 BB pistons, light flywheel , stipe timing gear, FS ignition , home made thermostat housing ,home made headers. Medium cam ground in NZ.Murray horn front damper.its no longer a rolling road block ,but at 90 your butt crack isn’t very big. All we aimed for was to cruise at 60 all day ,which is the limit here in NZ. E2325996-0486-41FF-8430-EF7FC56EA467.jpeg 92BDCDEB-614F-47BE-B81E-18D7CA1DECD2.jpeg

Grace and co air cleaners that we made slightly taller to fit a better k&n type filter. Ha , regarding the carbs we had 5 of the 81 strombergs to make 2 .After 2 days of being unable to get he AF ratio dialed in getting frustrated, we finally found one mischievous 81 body was porous. Dang it all , luckily I had a new pair of 97s on the shelf which made turn around time zero , so the paint is what stromberg use.

It's all looking good , does it live up to expectations, I know you and your engine man put max effort into the build. Which trans did you end up using?
But it all looks far too flash for that modern truck, you better drop it off here, I will run it in for you in an old roadster get it patina-ed up for Wendy's truck.

B4 trans with 39 gears . Had a 5 speed with the jeep TT conversion, but she who must be obeyed said nope to that idea. We do have a couple of 5 speeds in rods . I presume the same rule will apply if we get the T roadster we found with a seized motor, no upgrades.
